163w ago - Sony PlayStation Store Team member Ross McGrath is here with this weeks European PSN Game Store updates today, as follows:

PlayStation Store (via PS3, PSP and Media Go)

Two highly anticipated titles drop this week, the much delayed Spelunker HD and the slightly less delayed SEGA Rally Online Arcade, both great titles with very different focuses!

I recommend you give them a try. And another mini graduates to become a full PSN title this week - Alien Zombie Megadeath is now available for just over a fiver. If you like platforms, alien zombies and shooting, there is no better choice.

The Uncharted Multiplayer Beta also makes its way to the main Store for a second week of car-jumping, cargo-plane, pirate-shooting mayhem.

We've a new batch of discounts, courtesy of EA - 30% off a great selection of EA PSN titles (and a piece of high calibre golfing DLC!)

Sony to Announce New PS3 Chassis Design at Gamescom 2011

500°
163w ago - Although no PS3 price drop is planned for the event, today [Register or Login to view links] reports that Sony will be announcing a new PlayStation 3 chassis design at Gamescom which runs from August 17th to the 20th, 2011.

This is not to be confused with the recent PS3 model CECH-3001A/B that weighs in at 2.6kg down from 3.0kg and cuts power consumption from 230W to 200W.

While the upcoming PS3's functionality is said not to change, during a recent interview PlayStation India Country Manager Atindriya Bose stated that the new PS3 chassis design will feature a slightly different internal design.

To quote: "Any chance of a price drop on the PS3 soon?

As of now, no.

Gamescom, then?

(laughs) Well, if there was a price drop coming at Gamescom, I'd know. There is, however, a new PS3 chassis being discussed. A slightly different design, but from what I can tell, not much difference in functionality."

Today Darko on German site Konsolentreff.net (linked above) has shared an image uncovering Sony's PSN Pass on a Resistance 3 PS3 bundle box.

The text in the image reads as following: "PSN Pass. Network features only available in countries that have PlayStation Store."

While there is currently no official announcement on what PSN Pass is from Sony, [Register or Login to view links] reports that it may be similar to EA's Online Pass which provides online access to those who either purchase a new copy of a game or those who pay the extra ten bucks to buy their way into networked features.

To quote: "Sony has employed the practice before, selling "Online Entitlement" passes for PSP games SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 3 and ModNation Racers.

We don't yet know if PSN Pass is real, whether...
