133w ago - Sony Senior Social Media Specialist Rey Gutierrez has shared some video footage today of PlayStation Vita's Augmented Reality Suite below.

To quote: At [Register or Login to view links], we scored a backstage demo of Table Soccer, one of three augmented reality games that show off PS Vita's Wide Area Augmented Reality capability.

Today, Sony Santa Monica Sr. Manager Dave Thach returns with two new augmented reality games, Fireworks and Cliff Diving. Both are part of the Augmented Reality Suite coming exclusively to PS Vita on Feb 22nd on PSN for free. Also, packaged with your PS Vita will be six AR cards which will also work with Reality Fighters, and other great AR experiences.

Fireworks transforms the world around you into a firework display where you'll literally touch the apex of the firework for multipliers, combos and points. Cliff Diving introduces you to diver Dave, where you'll have him diving off your coffee table into a virtual body of water.

Before you check out this video, make sure you watch our very first tour with Table Soccer which completes the AR Suite on PS Vita.

Instead of telling you more, I'll let Dave Thach show you!

Video: Hands-On: Mortal Kombat for PlayStation Vita Preview

350°
134w ago - Sony Senior Social Media Specialist Sid Shuman shared a hands-on video preview today of Mortal Kombat for the PlayStation Vita handheld.

To quote: I've got good news, and I've got good news. First, the good news: Based on my recent hands-on play sessions, Mortal Kombat on PS Vita plays identically to its PS3 counterpart.

That means fluid 60 frames-per-second fighting, lush presentation, and every bit of content from the console version. That includes the critically acclaimed Story mode, a full character roster, the Krypt, the works.

I also tried out a series of local (non-internet) Wifi multiplayer matches, and I'm happy to report that the game felt smooth and responsive with no perceptible lag. If you're skeptical, watch the video above to see local multiplayer - and my hairy, hairy paws - in action.

Now for the good news: The PS Vita version adds an ambitious array of extra content, starting with every piece of DLC ever released on PS3. That means you'll be able to play as Freddy Krueger, Kenshi, Rain, and Skarlet from day one, and select MK1 and MK2 retro-styled costumes to drape over your male and female ninja characters.

The Vita version sweetens the pot with 15 more exclusive costumes,...

Ubisoft Shares Details on Rayman Origins for PlayStation Vita

100°
135w ago - Today PR Specialist Alex Monney at Ubisoft has shared details with fans on Rayman Origins for the PlayStation Vita handheld console.

To quote: Last year, Rayman Origins was released on PS3 to critical acclaim. On February 14, Rayman and his friends return to PS Vita! Even better, the beauty and frantic gameplay of the PS3 will make the transition to PS Vita fully intact.

You'll play as Rayman, Globox or the Teensies as they speed through stages on a mission to free the Glade of Dreams from the Darktoons.

Rayman Origins offers a playful hand-drawn art style and accessible platforming gameplay, and completionists will find a challenge in gathering all the Electoons and skull teeth. In short, Rayman Origins will deliver entertainment to the new comers and veterans of the platforming genre.

We also have some great PS Vita-specific features available for Rayman Origins. First, for those looking to really appreciate all the hand-drawn art of Rayman Origins, players can pinch the front touchscreen to zoom in, so you can better appreciate the detailed character and level design that our studio in Montpellier worked so hard to deliver.

Playing with a zoomed-in camera view also delivers a new experience and is critical in discovering the game's many hidden secrets.
