Video: New Super Mario Bros. Unpatched on Nintendo Wii Wode

100°
229w ago - This weekend wodedev has shared a new video showcasing the New Super Mario Bros. running unpatched on the Nintendo Wii via Wode.

To quote: Back to back testing of NSMB from a DVD backup (4.7GB ISO) and a WBFS formatted SD card (350MB). The ISO used in both Wodes is unpatched, the BCA data fix is handled by Wode.

Slipping into December is disappointing but Wode hardware has to be perfect before we will let it ship. Some missing tracks meant a PCB respin & we took the opportunity to improve connector placement.

By way of compensation there's a new video of two Wodes playing NSMB back to back. These are pre-production Wodes & have a couple of wire fixes on the main board

The Wode on the right is in "Flat Mode" & NSMB is running from a back up disk. ISO size 4.7GB. The Wode on the left is running NSMB from an SD card formatted with WBFS. WBFS image size 350MB.

No ISO was patched during the making of this movie

New Super Mario Bros. for the Nintendo Wii Gets UnBoxed

100°
232w ago - Last month we posted some gameplay trailers and screens for the New Super Mario Bros. videogame that is hitting the Nintendo Wii.

Today Vooks.net (linked above) has shared a look inside of the red New Super Mario Bros Wii case via some pictures available below.

If I owned a Wii console, this would be one title I'd be getting during the holiday season... is anyone else here planning to pick it up?

Anyway, to quote: "Yes, if you're also wondering that means we have got our copy, and we're not just going to be posting pictures of the case.

Look out for more videos of the game later tonight. The manual art we have received is also different from the US art which features a dot-art design rather then the mosaic strips of items we get."

Finally, for those curious on the story's outline: The game will follow the traditional storyline of Princess Peach getting kidnapped by Bowser. When Mario, Luigi, Blue Toad, and Yellow Toad are celebrating Princess Peach's birthday in her castle, a large cake reels in.

Immediately Bowser Jr. and...

Nintendo to Offer WiiWare Demos Later This Month

50°
233w ago - Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata has confirmed that in the near future it will test out providing demos on the WiiWare service.

Apparently the reason why demos will be provided on the network is because Nintendo wants to try and lure in new shoppers to the service.

To quote: "During the Q&A session at a recent earnings briefing, Iwata told investors that Nintendo would begin a test program for WiiWare demos some time this month. The test will cover just a few titles.

According to Iwata, Nintendo is undertaking this test to see if it can get more players shopping on the Wii Shopping Channel.

He admitted that the market for WiiWare and DSi Ware is currently small, with the Wii Shopping Channel and DSi Shop browsed only by people who already know the game they want to get."
