214w ago - Last month we unveiled the Nintendo Wii WODE final design pictures and specifications alongside some Defcon1 demos, and today wodedev has made available (below) a WODE WiFi proof of concept demo video.
To quote from the video's caption: "Proof of Concept Demo, Wode playing Farcry ISO from a SAMBA share on a PC. PC and Wode are connected via a WiFi router."
Those interested can check it out below, and if you haven't seen it already the WODE Moon Trip demo video is further down.
It demonstrates the WODE playing multidisc GameCube games on the Nintendo Wii console. Enjoy!
214w ago - Last month we posted some gameplay trailers and screens for the New Super Mario Bros. videogame that is hitting the Nintendo Wii.
Today Vooks.net (linked above) has shared a look inside of the red New Super Mario Bros Wii case via some pictures available below.
If I owned a Wii console, this would be one title I'd be getting during the holiday season... is anyone else here planning to pick it up?
Anyway, to quote: "Yes, if you're also wondering that means we have got our copy, and we're not just going to be posting pictures of the case.
Look out for more videos of the game later tonight. The manual art we have received is also different from the US art which features a dot-art design rather then the mosaic strips of items we get."
Finally, for those curious on the story's outline: The game will follow the traditional storyline of Princess Peach getting kidnapped by Bowser. When Mario, Luigi, Blue Toad, and Yellow Toad are celebrating Princess Peach's birthday in her castle, a large cake reels in.
216w ago - Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata has confirmed that in the near future it will test out providing demos on the WiiWare service.
Apparently the reason why demos will be provided on the network is because Nintendo wants to try and lure in new shoppers to the service.
To quote: "During the Q&A session at a recent earnings briefing, Iwata told investors that Nintendo would begin a test program for WiiWare demos some time this month. The test will cover just a few titles.
According to Iwata, Nintendo is undertaking this test to see if it can get more players shopping on the Wii Shopping Channel.
He admitted that the market for WiiWare and DSi Ware is currently small, with the Wii Shopping Channel and DSi Shop browsed only by people who already know the game they want to get."
216w ago - According to Artik of French site Logic-sunrise.com, the Nintendo Wii 2 is allegedly set to arrive in 2010 and include Blu-ray and 1080p support.
This rumor appears to stem from an internal source of the marketing department at Nintendo France, however, little information is available to substantiate it unfortunately.
To quote from Ripten (linked above): "It could be that it wasn't posted on the French site itself although that wouldn't make much sense.
All in all, the rumored "leak" states that Nintendo is working on a Wii sequel with the following:
• The Wii2 system will feature a Blu-Ray drive with a secondary aim of stopping piracy.
• 1080P and lower resolutions will be supported, for blu-ray movies and games.
• The release date is scheduled for third quarter of 2010.
• The release will be worldwide and on the same day for all countries.
• A scheme will be available in which it is possible to trade in the original Wii for a cheaper price on the new Wii 2."
217w ago - A new Wii System Menu update is now available in both North America and Europe.
Similar to the previous one that deleted and blocked Wii homebrew, this one is also labeled as version 4.2.
To quote on the noticable changes thus far: "Apparently the latest update is for the Ambassador program (earn free VC titles by helping others connect online) in Europe, but again, there are no noticeable changes for North American Wii systems at this point.
Those who downloaded the Wii Internet Browser for 500 points can now receive a free VC NES title."
