248w ago - Krome Studios Creative Director Steve Stamatiadis has revealed alongside a trailer video that Blade Kitten is coming exclusively to PlayStation 3 via PSN this Spring.

To quote: I'm the creator and director of [Register or Login to view links]' new game, [Register or Login to view links], a brand new hi-def, high-action PS3 game coming to the PlayStation Network in the Spring.

I'm sure all of you often get asked "WTF is a Blade Kitten?" I know I rdo all the time.

No? Then I guess I should tell you the tale of a catgirl, her sword and a blobby alien critter thing. A sordid past.

Sometime in the latter part of the 20th Century I was working on a bunch of ideas for comics and games. I'd start reusing elements that I thought were really cool, like alien species, characters, mecha, weapons, until eventually realizing I was creating a universe that they all shared.

Then around 2001 - not long after we had started work on TY the Tasmanian Tiger – I found I had three different ideas that each had elements I liked but none had ALL the elements I wanted. One was too cartoony (a super powered anime schoolgirl), the other was too serious (Space Gladiators with guns) and the third was an aborted...

After many rumors, today the [Register or Login to view links] has officially confirmed that online movie rental service Netflix will be expanding to the Nintendo Wii console this Spring.

Considering the Wii's small internal memory, it should come as no surprise that this service will require an [Register or Login to view links] in the Wii each time someone wants to watch a movie, just like the PS3.

But while it's speculated that the PS3 will be getting an onboard solution to this problem, the same shouldn't be expected for Nintendo's console.

To quote: "The real winner in this? Netflix, of course. The online rental company has become quite ubiquitous these days. Even now I'm sure that a strong majority of our readership has a little red envelope either ready to be watched or sealed and ready for the long journey back home to the nearest Netflix shipping center.

But...

Analyst: Prepare for Sluggish Spring, No New Consoles Until 2013

250°
290w ago - Compared to last Spring's outlandish software sales figures (fueled by the release of Super Smash Bros. Brawl and GTA IV), this year's stats aren't inspiring much confidence in gaming industry investors.

In fact, many are anxiously awaiting the launch of new hardware to provide a quick sales boost - but according to industry analyst Michael Pachter (linked above), they shouldn't hold their breath: By his estimation, new hardware won't be hitting store shelves until at least 2013.

Pachter said that publishers would be hesitant to adopt new hardware considering their investments in the current console cycle have yet to adequately pay off.

There is one exception though - Pachter expects the [Register or Login to view links] high-definition Wii may appear some time in 2010.
