Video: Worms Revolution Takes to The Battlefield This October

113w ago - Today Communications Manager Nick Clarkson of Team 17 Digital has announced that Worms Revolution will be taking to the Battlefield this October.

To quote: Not many games can claim to have survived as long as [Register or Login to view links]'s Worms.

Born from a simple idea, Worms first appeared in 1995! Now, 17 years later, Worms Revolution is heading to PlayStation 3. It will be available from the PlayStation Store as of 10th October priced at £9.99/€12.99.

It's a completely new game built around the classic Worms 2D gameplay, but it also boasts a range of new, exciting features. Gamers will notice the game's highly polished visuals but it won't be until the action begins that they'll marvel at new physics objects, dynamic water and an awesome class system.

To introduce the plethora of new features, we've created a series of five developer diaries. Here's Worms Revolution's designer, Kev "Chesh" Carthew to introduce the game and tell us how the series came to be.

CCP Reveals How Dynamic Battlefields Take Shape in Dust 514

125w ago - Today CCP Community Manager CmdrWang has revealed how dynamic battlefields take shape in Dust 514 for the PlayStation 3 entertainment system.

To quote: In traditional or mainstream FPS games, the mission area, i.e. the layout of objectives, structures, and spawn locations, are fairly static, thus making missions predictable after playing them a few times.

This is not the case in DUST 514. Because of its sandbox nature, we want to give players the freedom to change the battlefield through choices and this is where the "dynamic" part of the battlefields will come from.

This means that battlefields in DUST 514 could change based on the actions that players make - from innocuous actions such as changing one's character fitting before a deployment, all the way up to decisions made light years away in a player owned corporate board room.

However, giving players a big sandbox to play in does not simply mean throwing a bunch of random choices at them and say, "go." For players to experience the uniquely emergent gameplay offered by the EVE Online universe, the freedom that these choices offer must be handled in a meaningful manner.

Unit 13 Takes Over Vita Hill Social Clubs, PS Vita Demo Incoming

135w ago - Zipper Interactive Community Specialist Chris Roper has announced today that Unit 13 is taking over Vita Hill Social Clubs alongside news of a PS Vita demo incoming detailed below.

To quote: The release of Unit 13 is just a few weeks away now, officially launching on March 6th, but you don't have to wait that long to get your hands on the game!

On Monday, February 20th, Unit 13 is going to take over all eight Vita Hill Social Clubs, giving you the chance to dig in to the full Unit 13 experience and find out what it's like to play a console-caliber shooter in the palm of your hands.

The top scoring players at each location will be eligible for some pretty awesome prizes, so play as much as you can during the limited-time event and try to get your name to the top of the leaderboards. For locations and times, check out the official Vita Hill Social Club page.

If you can't make it to one of the club dates you might miss out on the prize opportunities but you can still get an early taste of Unit 13 by checking out the downloadable demo via the PlayStation Store on Tuesday, February 21st.

ThatGameCompany: Journey Takes Its First Steps on PSN in March

135w ago - Creative Director Jenova Chen at ThatGameCompany has announced today that Journey will be taking its first steps on PSN this coming March.

To quote: As you may know from my recent tweet, the development of our latest PlayStation Network game, Journey, is finally complete. And today, we're very excited to announce the official release date for Journey.

You will be able to download it from the PlayStation Store for $14.99 starting March 13th, 2012. Three years ago, our last game, Flower, was part of the Spring Fever event on PSN, and this year Journey will kick off this year's Spring Fever.

With each game we create, we want to bring something truly unique and authentic to the user. We want our players to experience something they have never felt before. Our first game for PSN was flOw in 2007, a meditative zen video game haiku.

We followed that in 2009 with Flower, our video game version of a poem about the tension between urban bustle and natural serenity. Journey, our third game, is an interactive parable, an anonymous online adventure to experience a person's life passage and their intersections with other's.

144w ago - Sony Senior Media Specialist Sid Shuman has shared an interview and video tour of Unit 13 today, which takes shooters social on PlayStation Vita!

To quote: There's no sense mincing words: The next game from SOCOM creator Zipper Interactive represents a fairly radical rethinking of the competitive shooter genre.

The game doesn't include a traditional single-player story or a conventional multiplayer battleground, instead focusing squarely on bite-sized, highly replayable scenarios that can be played alone or with a friend.

In dropping the well-worn ways of the past, Unit 13 is positioning itself to be on the forefront of an entirely new way to think about multiplayer. The game will track and report your virtual exploits and broadcast them to friends both far (via PSN) and near (via...Near).

To get a handle on this brazen new approach to shooter design, we asked Creative Director Seth Luisi to outline Unit 13's feature set and functionality in a video tour.
