250w ago - PlayStation Home Online Community Specialist Locust_Star announced that the Warhawk Game Space will hit PSN tomorrow along with some new Street Fighter IV virtual items as follows:
As you may or may not know, Warhawk is getting its own game space in PlayStation Home on Thursday, February 26th.
This space is a great example of the next level in Home's development - boasting serious interactive features from tactical furniture to game launching.
So on opening day we're inviting you all out to the new space to meet new people, strategize your next attack (using the interactive sand table), launch into the game, and commence the carnage.
This event will run from dawn to dawn, so when you get out of work, class, or a well-deserved nap be sure to log in and meet up with old clan members and new teammates alike.
You might even see me in there kicking some Eucadian butt (or Chernovan, depending on my mood). Look for a video walkthrough of the Warhawk Command Center with Dylan Jobe tomorrow morning!
If you were not yet aware, Capcom's newly-released Street Fighter IV is tightly integrated with Home, offering unlockable virtual items when users perform certain actions in the game. To help you keep up with the Joneses, we'll be dropping some hot...
251w ago - While the PS3 and Xbox 360 gamers were enjoying the long awaited release of Street Fighter IV, the PC gaming community fell victim to Capcom's anti-piracy strategy.
Capcom believes they can reduce piracy on the PC by releasing the PC version of the game months after the console. This policy has failed as it would seem.
Entering "Street Fighter IV" into a torrent search engine results in numerous images of the 360's Street Fighter IV disc with thousands of downloads already completed. To add insult to injury, some of these copies went up online before the game's launch date!
Even though the anti-piracy tactic has failed, it seems like PC gamers must endure the wait a little while longer. If Best Buy's Pre Order page is correct that wait ends May 15th. For Capcom's sake they better hope that the hype of the game lasts till that point.
I for one am interested. I wonder if they high piracy rate of the XBox 360 version of the game will result in a change in Capcom's policy on piracy? It should be obvious to them now that their piracy concerns should extend beyond the PC versions of their games.
Beyond all the piracy the game seem to be selling very well. On the first day of its release it was sold out in Japan. In the USA the Collectors edition of the game was...
251w ago - Social Media Manager Jeff Rubenstein shared a video today via PS Blog of the Street Fighter IV launch for Sony's PlayStation 3 console. To quote:
To celebrate the 2nd (or 3rd, or 4th) coming of the Street Fighter legacy, Capcom threw a giant launch party a few days ago in downtown Los Angeles. Many of you attended, some were rebuffed by the LA fire marshal, but all that made it in had a great time.
When I first arrived, Capcom Community Guy and Street Fighter Legend Seth Killian offered up a tour. I rolled video so you could see what went down inside:
252w ago - Piracy is a very big problem in the gaming industry, primarily affecting the PC platform. As such, a lot of companies choose to release new titles exclusively to consoles, ignoring the PC platform for fear that they might lose a lot of money.
While the PC Gaming Alliance and other developers and publishers of video games are backing up the PC, it seems that they are fighting with the proverbial windmills.
But let's not forget that consoles do encounter problems, at least the Xbox 360, as we have recently learned that Capcom's upcoming Street Fighter IV title has already been leaked and is up for anyone to download and play on their modified Xbox 360 console.
Torrent sites are being assaulted by players eager to test out this long awaited title, as there are still quite a lot of days until the retail release of the game in Japan, February 12, North America, February 19, and last but not least, Europe on February 20. Also, let's not forget that the PC version of the game still doesn't have a concrete release date, as Capcom wants people to buy the title for the consoles first.
Street Fighter IV is the latest iteration in the long running fighting game franchise owned by Japanese company...
