Square-Enix Publishing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 in Japan?

100°
265w ago - Apparently there is a chance that Square-Enix, RPG giant, famous for the Final Fantasy series is aiding in the publishing of Modern Warfare 2 in Japan.

A new [Register or Login to view links] posted by Square-Enix, shows some Japanese text (sorry I can't read it so I couldn't translate it), and the familiar Modern Warfare "2". Also the legal info at the bottom of the site credits Activision.

This is just my opinion or view on the situation, but I believe that Square-Enix is helping to push Modern Warfare 2 in Japan, due to their strong following and support in the Final Fantasy series.

By selling the product with a widely known name, there is a chance for better coverage and spread of the product as well as targeting the company's main supporters.

100°
267w ago - Just over a week ago Square Enix launched a countdown for a new video game title, and it didn't take long for some of the artwork to leak out.

Since then, the teaser site was updated daily with new images acting as clues, and speculation led to Lord of Vermilion.

Today the countdown has ended, and as pictured below the game revealed on the [Register or Login to view links] is indeed a sequel dubbed Lord of Vermilion 2.

To quote: Now that the countdown is over, the title that was shrouded behind mystery has been revealed. Come this autumn, the sequel to Lord of Vermilion will make it's way on the scene.

Unfortunately, no platforms have been revealed, but wouldn't it make a great PlayStation Eye game? Post your thoughts below!

Square Enix Teaser Site Updated Again, for Lord of Vermillion?

100°
268w ago - Today the Square Enix [Register or Login to view links] that was launched a few days ago has been updated again.

neo2046 of [Register or Login to view links] has deduced that it is apparently for Square Enix's arcade card game "Lord of Vermillion" or a related title... we'll know for certain on August 7th, 2009.

To quote: It appears Square Enix has yet again updated the countdown to their mystery game, which is set to be unveiled on August 7th in Japan.

In this latest update, images of a man and a dragon can be seen in the background. Thanks to the work of NeoGAF users, it appears this game has something to do with Square Enix's arcade game Lord of Vermillion, either being an new game or a port of the arcade version.

Square Enix Launches 'VII Days' PS3 Teaser Site, Artwork Leaked

400°
269w ago - Square Enix is taking a liking to teaser sites, amongst other companies like Atlus and Cyberconnect 2, in doing countdowns for reveals of Front Mission Evolved for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, Final Fantasy Gaiden for DS and more.

Today, however, a new PS3 teaser site comes in as follows:

Titled "0807", the [Register or Login to view links] features nothing but the words "VII Days" and a countdown timer that ends in approximately twelve hours.

We're guessing this is going to follow in the shoes of Hideo Kojima's countdown timer and start a new countdown in twelve hours considering that the date in the title of the page is August 7th, which is seven days from now.

While searching through the flash site, rykomatsu of [Register or Login to view links] has also uncovered some new leaked concept art (below).

As for now, speculate away in the comments below!

Square Enix States Star Ocean PS3 GameFly Listing is an Error

50°
269w ago - Two days ago a GameFly listing gave hope to PlayStation 3 console owners that Star Ocean: The Last Hope may be coming to PS3.

Since then, Square Enix reps have now confirmed that the retailer listing was made in error.

To quote: Sqaure Enix reps told Kotaku "We cannot comment on a PS3 release at this time." However, they went on to say that the listing on Gamefly.com was "an error and had been taken down from their site."

Well, not completely taken down. While searching for the PlayStation 3 release of Star Ocean: The Last Hope doesn't return anything but the Xbox 360 version, Gamefly still has the title in its data base.

We'll chalk that up to either a technical limitation or a preference to not have to upload the listing again should an announcement of a PS3 port be coming soon.
