Video: Pickles in Your Pocket: Bringing Runner2 to PlayStation Vita

50°
71w ago - Gaijin Games Associate Producer Dant Rambo posted up a video today announcing Runner2 for the PlayStation Vita handheld console.

To quote: Adapting a console game for a mobile platform is no walk in the Welcome Park. The reasons for this are numerous, but it ultimately boils down to an issue of faithfulness.

We can't speak for other developers - though we imagine they would agree - but we wanted our game, BIT.TRIP Presents... Runner2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien, to feel the same on the Vita as it does on the rest of its platforms.

Furthermore, we wanted to provide players everywhere with the chance to carry [Register or Login to view links] around wherever they go. Though we've not yet finished our development of the Vita version, we're confident we've succeeded on both fronts.

For those unaware, Runner2 is a 2D platformer featuring vibrant worlds, unique characters, challenging (and rewarding!) gameplay, and the vocal stylings of Charles Martinet.

From the early planning stages to the finished product, our goal was to create a game that made people happy. If it just so happens that you're someone who likes to be happy, chances are good you'll enjoy it immensely.

Now, with the elevator pitch out of the way,...

The Order: 1886 Brings the Victorian Era to PlayStation 4 / PS4

71w ago - CEO and Creative Director Ru Weerasuriya of Ready At Dawn Studios announced today that The Order: 1886 brings the Victorian Era to PlayStation 4 / PS4 video gaming with details below.

To quote: This project has been a long time coming, and I'm proud today that we finally have a chance to give you a first look into our new game, The Order: 1886. This is the first original IP created by Ready At Dawn, and the game is targeted exclusively for the PlayStation 4.

The genesis of this project happened many years ago, but it was not until 2010, when hearing of the upcoming PS4, that we as a studio decided it was time for us to bring this IP to life. We saw that the platform could finally give us the potential needed to achieve the vision we had for this game.

With The Order: 1886, we introduce players to a unique vision of Victorian-era London, an alternate history where technological advances take center stage in a battle against a powerful and ancient foe. The game takes place nearly forty years after the Industrial Revolution.

But unlike in real history, our Industrial Revolution stems from mankind's desire to prevail in a centuries-old war. The advances in technology, invented by some of the foremost minds of the time, give man an opportunity to take the upper hand for the first...

Fieldrunners 2: Acclaimed Tower Defense on PS Vita This Summer

72w ago - Subatomic Studios Marketing & Strategy Manager Alec Shobin has officially announced that Fieldrunners 2: Acclaimed Tower Defense will be hitting PS Vita this Summer.

To quote: Are you ready to defend the world? [Register or Login to view links], the "king of tower defense," storms onto PS Vita this summer.

Everyone at Subatomic Studios is thrilled about launching Fieldrunners 2 on PS Vita! When we brought the original Fieldrunners to PSP back in 2009, we were completely overwhelmed by how much enthusiasm and support you all showed for our game. You folks are awesome, Sony rocks, and that's why we're bringing the biggest tower defense game ever to PS Vita this summer.

In Fieldrunners 2, our aim was to make everything bigger and better, while still respecting our fans as tower defense connoisseurs. We started by building a new game engine, which allows each and every enemy to carve their own unique path through the battlefield.

Drop a tower in front of them? Their relentless waves wrap right around it. Use bridges and tunnels to create a killer choke point? Enemies get caught up in a huge traffic jam.

How will you ever defend yourself against these legions of baddies? With over 25 devious new towers, those fieldrunners don't...

Video: Sound Shapes: Spring 2013 Has Sprung New DLC Arriving

100°
75w ago - Today Mark Rabo of the Sound Shapes Team posted up a video confirming that Spring 2013 has sprung with new DLC arriving as detailed below.

To quote: The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and "wub" is in the air... and with the spring comes a new blast of Sound Shapes DLC.

Two unique sound packs are available right now and in just a couple weeks we're stuffing the Community Milkcrate with more albums from guest curators - more on that below after this brand new video showcasing our new 80's and Dubstep Sound Packs.

First the sound packs. The 80′s pack brings the synth-poppy melodies and digital drum beats inspired by the neon decade when big hair and leg warmers ruled the lands.

If that's too gaudy for you, dive into the dark and dirty world of the Dubstep Sound Pack with the lurching, wobbling, big bass drops straight from the streets of London. Will you dare to combine the two?

Both packs each include new notes, loops, five new Beat School levels, and five Trophies.

And later this month we roll out a special installment of the Milkcrate, our carefully curated collection of Community levels. What's so special? Well, we asked some of our favorite people to hand-pick...

Video: PSP Game ISOs Running on PS3 4.41 OFW Demo Surfaces

78w ago - Following up on the previous updates, today [Register or Login to view links] shared a video demonstrating PSP game ISOs running on Sony PS3 Firmware 4.41 with details below.

To quote (via Wololo): You might remember the psp2ps3 tools, and all the excitement a few weeks ago around a recent hack breakthrough that allows people to run psp isos (and, potentially, homebrews) on a hacked PS3, by “camouflaging” the game inside a PSP Mini.

Although people believed this trick was reserved to PS3s running a Custom Firmware, this might become an incorrect statement very soon…

I was contacted by scene member CapetLeVrai who apparently found a way to run those PSP ISOs on a non hacked PS3 running the latest official firmware 4.41.

The current technique will probably not blow your mind for now, as it requires you to own both a hacked and a non hacked PS3, but it could open huge opportunities in the near future if the right people decide to look into that. The basic idea is that after...
