400°
214w ago - Today DemonHades (and Jack90 at Spanish site [Register or Login to view links]) have reported a rumor of a possible PS3 kernel exploit discovered in the FIFA Soccer 09 game for PlayStation 3.

Currently there are no plans to publicly disclose the exploit, however, if it does surface there is a good chance it will still be present in PS3 Firmware 3.50 so only time will tell for sure.

To quote DemonHades, roughly translated: "I do not think showing more are demonstrated, but helping others and providing information.

I am not a coder "hopefully" would dawn, I'm ideologue and analyze the details.

What the exploit as I said in my private message that was copied to EOL (without my consent) was a reply to the question suggested by maee, who kindly responded.

As I said the FIFA09 has a kernel exploit not want to publish for several reasons, including neglecting the business model wave dependence on "x" groups, including Math.

Having the information is to have the power to handle situations as you saw when they released the code in the groove ("as if you throw rice to the pigeons go all at once and do not separate from you, but if they see anything they do not strip is piran "), I for personal reasons...

Rumor: Sony Rep Reveals PS3 Backwards Compatibility Plans

800°
216w ago - Today TheGameHeadz.com (linked above) reports that a Rep revealed Sony's PS3 backwards compatibility plans to them at a recent press event.

While they didn't reveal their informant's name, a few months ago a patent for an adapter to make PS3 backwards compatible was uncovered.

To quote: "It was clear from our conversation that Sony likes the idea of backwards compatibility, but hadn't come to a conclusion until recently, on how to incorporate it.

The decision Sony finally came to is the one already in play, HD remastering.

"Remastering didn't come up until about two years ago. For a developer, remastering in HD took a moderate amount of time and effort to achieve, and with the right title it could be very successful. Once we noticed the benefits of HD remastering, the decision was made to use God of War 1 & 2 as the test for the market, and they delivered.

The God of War Collection had reached almost a million copies sold just after the holiday. Shortly aftter that Activision, EA, UbiSoft, Konami, and SquareEnix were all on board to issue ReMastered Edition of their best Playstation 2 Games."

He went on to say doing backwards compatibility...

Rumor: Google TV is Heading to PlayStation 3 in Spring 2011

500°
216w ago - According to SideQuesting.com (linked above), Google TV is rumored to be heading to Sony's PlayStation 3 entertainment system as part of a Spring 2011 update.

Currently Google TV is already integrated into upcoming Sony Blu-ray players including the [Register or Login to view links], so although the rumor is unconfirmed thus far for PS3 it does seem to make sense.

To quote: "Sony currently provides both Netflix and Hulu Plus apps to its users, as well as Sony Pictures films over PSN. The PS3 also allows for networked streaming. It is clear that not only does Sony want the PS3 to be a gaming hub, but the premiere multimedia hub of the home as well.

GoogleTV provides the ability to view any media at any time, web or live, something that few other devices accomplish effectively and no other gaming device can do. This is a huge advantage for Sony of they can extend Android's reach.

With Google TV having the ability to include apps, this provides a quicker method of acquiring many of the same apps that the Xbox has (Last.fm, Twitter, Facebook) and more. The PS3 can more accurately become an "everything to everyone" product if it has access to all of the...

Rumor: Sony's PSP2 Will Ditch the UMD and Feature 1GB of RAM

550°
217w ago - With the PSPgo price cut and recent PlayStation Phone rumors, today Kotaku.com (linked above) reports that Sony's PSP2 will ditch the UMD and feature 1GB of RAM.

Additionally, [Register or Login to view links] are reporting that PSP2 is currently codenamed Veta.

To quote: "One of the key ones is that the PSP2 will not have a UMD drive. The UMD (Universal Media Disc) was launched in 2004 for use in the PSP. Initially, the format was used for movies, but slow sales of UMD films lead to studios dropping support for the format.

Sony's PSPgo is UMD-free version of the PSP, and sources tell Kotaku that the PSP2 will follow in the footsteps of that portable. Games will be stored on a Memory Stick, according to one source. Though we've also been told that Sony is still puzzling out what the final non-UMD storage solution will be for the PSP2.

We've also learned that the PSP2 will be a much more powerful gaming device with twice the RAM of the Xbox 360.

While we don't yet know all of the portable's system specifications,...
