Rainbow Moon: PSN-Exclusive Strategy RPG coming in 2012

200°
151w ago - SideQuest Studios CEO Marcus Pukropski has announced today that PSN-exclusive strategy RPG Rainbow Moon is coming in 2012.

To quote: Today I am telling you about what we've been working on with our publishing partner eastasiasoft during roughly the last year and a half.

No, it's not another shooter, but it's once again a very classical genre that we are bringing back to life on the PlayStation 3 in 2012.

Our latest creation is titled Rainbow Moon. It's a strategy role-playing game (or, for short, "SRPG" with a strong emphasis on exploration, character development and turn-based battles. This genre is one of my personal favorites that I enjoyed playing most when I was growing up (and still enjoy a lot now as far as time allows).

I can promise you that Rainbow Moon is going to be massive, and it's got all the features that you want from a traditional RPG. First of all, it will take you around 30 hours just to play through the main story mode, but that's far from all what the game has to offer. Your playtime can be extended to 100 hours or longer if you want to complete all side quests and achieve full character development.

What else can you expect from Rainbow Moon? A classic isometric open world,...

Video: Playbrains Announces Sideway: New York Only on PSN Now

50°
154w ago - Today Playbrains Studio Director Scott Simpson has made available some new video footage and announced that beginning now Sideway: New York is live only on PSN!

To quote: In Hollywood circles, there is a well-known tradition where Steven Spielberg and George Lucas will [Register or Login to view links] and go somewhere remote right about when they have a big movie opening.

They do this mostly for good luck, but also to avoid the press and ignore the grosses. Basically, they generally try to get their mind off of the project they've dedicated much of their recent lives to create.

I mention this because our adventure platformer Sideway: New York is all wrapped and done and will be available only on PSN as of today's PlayStation Store update. I also mention this because at this moment, a few of us here at the studio are out in Zimbabwe embarking on a new work project. (Oooh, I can just see the screaming blog headlines now: "Game Developer compares his game to Star Wars").

I mention this preamble principally because my beloved perfect record for responding to questions and comments on the PlayStation.Blog is (*sniff*) about to be sullied and...

Video: Resistance 3 Trainyard PS3 Multiplayer Footage Arrives

100°
173w ago - Insomniac Games Senior Community Manager James Stevenson has shared some fresh Resistance 3 Trainyard PS3 Multiplayer video footage today.

To quote: We wanted to be the first to bring you this EU Blog exclusive footage of our Bogota, Colombia multiplayer map from Resistance 3! Set in a sunbaked trainyard, this map has an awesome mixture of long-, mid- and close-combat options.

For that reason, it really fits our main objective with Resistance 3 multiplayer - to give the player a ton of choice in how they approach the game, while also giving them weapons and abilities that make their style of play even more powerful.

Features in this video you should check out include the different HUD for Chimeran players, and our new Resistance 3 rocket-launcher, the Firestorm. One of the best parts about Resistance 3 is customizing your loadout with the various Support and Tactical abilities.

In the video, you'll see players dropping Healing Beacons and Bubble Shields for their teammates, as well as using Thermal Vision and Dash to get a jump on enemies. Various attributes allow you to carry larger clips, track enemies by their footprints, and even have leapers burst from your corpse. You'll be able to unlock the various weapons, abilities and attributes, and upgrade them all, as...
