Today Sony's Director of PlayStation Network Operations Eric Lempel has announced that PSP Firmware Update 6.10 is imminent, and that a new SensMe Channels will also be available.

To quote: PSP update v6.10 will be available soon. This is a big update for us in preparation for the launch of PSPgo. New PSPgo owners should make sure to download the update to ensure full compatibility with MediaGo and with all PSP titles. Here are some of the key features we'll be introducing:

PSP Game Decrypter - Play New Games on Old PSP Firmware

800°
273w ago - According to French site PSPGen (linked above), Yoshihiro has made available a PSP Game Decrypter which allows users to run new PSP games on older PSP Firmware.

Prior to this, without a new PSP Custom Firmware update available those unwilling to upgrade their official PSP Firmware have been locked out of playing a lot of the new PSP games.

Yoshihiro was reportedly able to successfully play MotorStorm: Arctic Edge on 5.03GEN (PSP-3000 and PSP-2000 v3) and 5.50GEN (PSP-2000 and PSP-1000).

Download: PSP Game Decrypter

To quote, roughly translated: Today, Yoshihiro presents a tool that will please all the players in the community: Game Decrypter, which will allow owners of games requiring firmware 5.55 can play on Custom Firmwares 5.50GEN-B and 5.03GEN.

To do this, you will get the file EBOOT.BIN an ISO that you created with the utility UMDGen.

Most games asking the 5.55 can be treated with this tool. Some games (list available soon) will be impervious to manipulation, they require a patch to the image of him created...

Rumor: PSP Firmware 6.00 Reveals Existence of 8 PSP Models

100°
274w ago - There are four PSP models right now- the 1000, 2000, 3000 and the soon-to-be-released PSPGo.

Rumor has it that Sony may be planning to release at least eight different PSP model revisions according to PSPGen (linked above).

While investigating PSP Firmware 6.00, apparently an index_0xg.dat file in it can load from _01g to _08g... which may mean support for eight versions.

Of course this isn't concrete evidence as the modules could simply be associated with prototype or debug versions, but don't be surprised if we end up seeing another PSP revision next year.

Speculation - Videos: PSP Custom Firmware 6.00 MAC Coming?

250°
275w ago - This PSP Custom Firmware 6.0 based on the recently released PSP Firmware 6.0 is absolute speculation as far as I'm concerned.

Why? Well, where are the new 6.00 theme colours, why not show those real quick in your lengthy video?

Why not boot a game that requires 5.55+ or something? That alone would prove more than just showing the same thing twice.

And what, "like Criss Angel, what you see is what you get?" He's a stunt artist / illusionist. Is this purely a stunt or an illusion? You see what I'm saying, right?

Now don't get me wrong; I'd love a new custom firmware as much as the next guy. So please – prove me/us otherwise.

Anyway, see for yourself – you are the judge.
