Blacklight: Retribution Celebrates Anniversary With Free PS4 Goodies

200°
1w ago - Zombie Studios Producer Kael Hammond announced today that Blacklight: Retribution is celebrating their 1-year anniversary with free PS4 goodies!

To quote: We cannot believe it has already been a year since Zombie Studios launched the [Register or Login to view links] Beta on PS4 alongside the launch of PS4 in November 2013.

Players jumped in excited to know what the game was all about and eager to give us feedback.

We took that feedback and built it into the June release that ended beta. We wanted to come out of beta strong, and turned our attention to new content and released a flurry of new maps, weapons, gear, and even a hard suit.

could keep talking about what we've done, but I know what you really want to hear is what's coming next - so I'll get back to our release history after.

Coming Up

In our next release (Patch 2.07) we have re-worked the party system to further the goal of making sure it takes as few steps as possible before you are playing with your friends. Our players have let us know it is important and we have made it a priority to bring it to you.

Following Patch 2.07 will be the "Icestorm"...

Gunsport Brings Competitive Cyberpunk Volleyball to PlayStation 4

2w ago - Necrosoft Games Director Brandon Sheffield announced today that Gunsport brings competitive cyberpunk volleyball to PlayStation 4.

Below are the details, to quote: Hi! I'm Brandon Sheffield, director of Necrosoft Games. We've made a couple small things before, like Gunhouse for PlayStation mobile, but today we want to talk about a much bigger game - Gunsport, which we're bringing to PS4.

This is our first PS4 game, and we're pretty excited about it! 1080p pixel art! Heck yeah!

Gunsport is a 2-on-2 (or 1-on-1) competitive eSport for discerning individuals who like: cool times, hot times, rough times, and dangerous times. It's a cyberpunk vision of the neo future, like volleyball or sepak takraw with a shotgun and a laserbeam (and a bunch of other weapons, of course).

Gunsport is all about keeping the ball in the air. The more times the ball passes the net the more points it's worth, and the more dangerous it becomes to miss a shot. Shots are limited - the keeper, in the back, can't move, but gets two shots in a full clip. The striker, in the front, can move and jump, but only gets one shot.

Teams reload when the ball crosses the net toward them, but only then, so you have to economize your shots. Every time the ball crosses the net either direction it's worth...

Vertex Pop: Twin-stick Shooter We Are Doomed to Hit PS4, PS Vita

50°
2w ago - Vertex Pop's Mobeen Fikree announced today that Twin-stick Shooter We Are Doomed is slated to hit both PS4 and PS Vita platforms.

To quote: Hello there! I'm Mo, founder of Vertex Pop, a tiny independent video game studio based in Toronto, Canada.

I'm really excited to introduce We Are Doomed, a twin-stick shooter where you zap polygon baddies with an insanely overpowered laserbeam. I want to tell you all about the core mechanics of the game, the unique visuals, and my plans to bring it to PS4 and PS Vita.

And I'll be showing We Are Doomed at PlayStation Experience next month, so please come by if you're attending!

The first thing you'll notice is that the player is armed with a powerful but close-range laserbeam weapon. If you want to get anywhere in We Are Doomed, you need to dive right into the action. Hanging back and picking off baddies will simply not do.

You'll also want to charge your already overpowered laserbeam into a SUPERBEAM, which is when things get a little absurd. The SUPERBEAM is a brief triumph: a beam that goes all the way across the screen, zapping everything it touches in short order. You'll want to make the most of your time with it. But remember to keep your cool, because you're still vulnerable when using it.

The entire game...

Sony Invites Fans to Enter the Impossible World of Relativity on PS4

250°
2w ago - Developer and Designer Willy Chyr invites fans to enter the impossible world of Relativity on PS4 today with details below.

To quote: Hello! My name is Willy Chyr - I'm an artist and indie game developer based in Chicago. I'm happy to announce that my game Relativity will be coming to PS4 in 2015, and you will get to try it at PlayStation Experience next month in Las Vegas!

Relativity is a game that re-imagines the laws of the universe. What if the normal rules of gravity no longer applied? The basic mechanic of the game is the ability to change gravity, allowing you to re-orient yourself to walk on walls and ceilings. In this world, up is down and down is up. It's all relative.

Let's take a look at what an early puzzle in the game is like. In the gif below, we need to get the purple block to stay on the purple square in order to unlock a door, but the block keeps sliding down. The solution: we lock the blue block in place while in the blue gravity, and then use it as a shelf to hold up the purple block.

What you just saw is the basic gameplay mechanic. But Relativity is more than just about stacking cubes - there is an entire world full of wonder and impossible...
