174w ago - Naughty DogCommunity Strategist Arne Meyer has announced today that Uncharted 2 Multiplayer PlayStation 3 Skins and a new PS3 Dynamic Theme are coming on August 17, 2010.
To quote: While this may not come as a surprise for some of you - as part of Naughty Dog's continuing support of our multiplayer community, we're glad to say we've got some new UNCHARTED 2 DLC on the way real soon! Like, next week soon.
On Tuesday, August 17, the UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves Sidekick Skins pack will be available for purchase with the PlayStation Store. After the last two sets of multiplayer skins we released, we heard that you wanted more Sully, more Chloe and more Elena (among many, many other things) - and that's exactly what we put into the pack.
Not to neglect the villains team, we also threw in two enemy characters from UNCHARTED: Drake's Fortune - Dillon and Mac - who complete the set we started with Blain and Dutch.
The UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves Sidekick Skins Pack includes the following multiplayer characters:
175w ago - SCEE Online Designer Wael Naguib has shared a guide today on how to create your own PS3 Themes for the PlayStation 3 entertainment system.
To quote: I am one of the Online Designers here at PlayStation Europe and I am here to talk to you about how to create your very own PS3 custom themes. Here is the PS3 Custom Theme Tool download.
I have created several custom themes available on PlayStation Store - you may be familiar with themes such as Manga, Graffiti and Rag-doll Kung-fu. The Manga and Graffiti themes were created on a PC and are based on my creative interests in urban street art, Japanese anime and Manga comics.
Coming up with theme ideas is really fun and can be challenging; I've discovered it's always good to start your ideas by thinking of a good background image before you begin work on the icons. A character, scene or texture is a good starting point to begin with and that will help you ensure your icons will fit with the chosen background.
If you like to keep things simple you can use the icons provided with the theme kit and edit them however you like e.g. change the colour of the icons or maybe add some shadow behind.
195w ago - Today GeoHot has posted a few pictures (below) with the title "Custom Themes?" on the latest PlayStation 3 blog entry, however, no other useful details are available of the PS3 hack demonstration.
To speculate, it appears to illustrate modifying the PS3 GameOS XMB memory areas, but this was already known over a month ago when word first spread of the PS3 Hypervisor lv2 being dumped and reversed.
It's an RCO file edit, just like RCO edits on the PSP (almost same format too). RCO files are resource files for VSH plugins, live in the dev_flash, and aren't signed. To edit them on your system, patch your hypervisor to allow encrypted access to the partition (flash on old systems, hd on new), and mod ps3pf_storage. dev_flash is just a FAT partition, mount it in Linux and change what you'd like.
Nevertheless, it looks like progress is indeed being made editing and replacing an RCO in /dev_flash/vsh/resource/, although it would be nice if the information was made public so that other PS3 Devs in the scene could join in the fun.
From NDT: Le foto sono vere al 100% Ha modificato gli RCO dal dump della ram ma dato che non sono signed questo significa proprio poco. Si vede che stava cercando anche lui qualcosa da postare.
Rough translation: The photos are real 100% Changed...
