15w ago - Cellar Door Games Designer Teddy Lee announced today that Rogue Legacy is coming to PS Vita, PS3 and PS4.
Below are the details, to quote: So if you guys have been surfing the web, you might have heard that Rogue Legacy is coming to PS Vita, PS3, and PS4. Well... it is! Pretty crazy stuff.
If you guys didn't watch the Sony Gamescom conference, you can check it out here. Feel free to watch for, like, 30 seconds, even though the rest of it is really cool.
Rogue Legacy had only been out for about 2 weeks before we were contacted by Sony, so we're blown away by how fast they reached out to us.
But Shahid and Shane have been great guys to work with, and we were able to get the a-okay to develop Rogue Legacy for all Sony platforms in a ridiculously short period of time. So yeah, go Sony! It's hard to believe that Rogue Legacy was all but unknown a short 4 months ago, and now we're still unknown and it's four months later.
If you've never played Rogue Legacy before, think of it as a genealogical Rogue-LITE. It takes a bunch of roguelike elements such as procedural generation, tough difficulty, and perma-death, and puts its own spin on it. For example, when you die you don't start from...
15w ago - Tama Games Producer Alan Crane shared a video today on the bubble-popping RPG Supermagical which is coming to both PS3 and PS Vita platforms.
To quote: Hello everyone. My name is Alan Crane from Tama Games, and I am the producer of Supermagical, writing to you now here to tell you about our upcoming PSN title.
With Supermagical, we wanted to create a classic bubble-popping game and the traditional, yet with ever-so enticing RPG (Role Playing Game) elements.
You will be able to unlock mighty allies, level them up with awesome power-ups, create new spells, acquire special items to advance your abilities as well - and the rest I'd like to save for you guys to find out!
If you are on the fence about this unorthodox combination of bubble-popping and RPG don't fret. We wanted this to be a fun and memorable experience for everyone. Everyone involved in this game is a true gamer with a strong passion for making games that every gamer and non-gamer would enjoy playing.
We make sure the games we make are those we would enjoy playing ourselves. There are no big firms or big bags of cash exchanging hands here - without mentioning any names, but there is more than one of us still indwelling the parent's basement and working from there. We are doing this basically...
16w ago - Arrowhead Game Studios CEO and Game Director Johan Pilestedt posted up a video today at Gamescom 2013 announcing that Helldivers is coming to PS4, PS3 and PlayStation Vita in 2014.
To quote: You may know of Arrowhead Game Studios from our previous games like Magicka and today we're excited to announce that we've teamed up with Sony Computer Entertainment and Foster City Studios to create our next game!
So, for all of you out there, both new fans and old, I give you Helldivers. Built for both single-player campaigns and up to four player co-op missions, Helldivers is a top-down shooter set in a satirical and dystopian future where mankind is ruled by a managed democracy.
Of course, this world also happens to be in a perpetual war against three alien species, one of which we revealed in our Gamescom trailer!
As part of the elite unit called the Helldivers, you choose your deployment zone and dive into battle on procedurally-generated battlefields. Once there, utilize overpowered weapons and Stratagems to defeat the enemies of mankind.
Working together as a team will be vital, whether calling in strikes or placing weapons, each action must be totally synchronized to achieve objectives....
16w ago - Polytron Producer Marie-Christine Bourdua announced today that Fez is set to melt minds on PS4, PlayStation Vita and PS3 platforms!
To quote: Hi there! My name is Marie-Christine Bourdua, producer at Polytron, and I'm here today to announce that Fez is coming soon to PS Vita, PS3 and PS4. Making Fez happen has been such an incredible journey, and we are truly thrilled to see our game come to PlayStation platforms.
Fez development started six and a half years ago with Phil Fish's ideas and Renaud Bedard's programming skills. The Montreal-based studio was (and still is) very small, but very ambitious.
Only 100 days into development, we submitted a Fez prototype to the 2008 Independent Games Festival, and were awarded the Visual Arts award, which was a huge public awareness and morale boost. But we still had a whole game to make!
We failed to meet a million deadlines and had to overcome financial obstacles, but met amazing collaborators along the way, like the game's composer, Rich Vreeland (aka Disasterpeace), and outstanding pixel artist Paul Robertson.
The game was taking shape, had a unique atmosphere and aura of mystery that we knew would find fans. As we were wrapping up development, James Swirsky and Lisanne Pajot (makers of the Sundance-nominated...
16w ago - Divekick Creator Adam "Keits" Heart shared some Divekick PS3 and PS Vita divetips strategies with fans today from EVO's Top 3 below.
To quote: Divekick is out on PS3 and PS Vita Tuesday! By now, many of you are starting to realize just how deep and competitive this game really is.
Online ranked play is going to be filled with killers in no time, so to help you get a head start, we've compiled a few tips from the top 3 finishers at EVO 2013. Additionally, we've included a quick character bio for our final fighter, Kenny, to complement our first two roster updates.
5 Tips from EVO Champion Mean Saltine
1. Know your spacing. Every character in the game has a different angle on their divekick. It is critical that you know how close you can get to your opponent without getting kicked in the face. You know you are at the perfect range when you can react to an opponents attack with an attack of your own.
2. Be patient. It might seem natural to go crazy with your divekicks, but it is much more effective to wait for your opponent to make a mistake before you strike. Playing too aggressive is very dangerous against patient opponents!
3. Use your special moves. Every character has two special abilities in the game. Sometimes knowing when...
