113w ago - As a follow-up to the PS3Index Online PS3 Game Param.sfo Community Database I have released a small PS3Index PC application I worked on today.

Details are as follows:

What: Another way to submit games to the PS3Index. With this application, you browse to the root of your backed up PS3 games, it will find the param.sfo files we are interested in, then you can upload them to the PS3Index.

114w ago - Background: I was tired of the fact that there was no decent resource for finding games based on their TITLE_ID and/or TITLE itself.

Soultion: I developed an online tool. It will allow you to submit a PS3 games "param.sfo" file, have the results not only outputted for you, but added to the PS3Index database. This way everybody can have access.

Problem: I only have a certain amount of backed up games for which I can index.

Soultion: You guys! I need as many people as possible to submit as many games as possible.

Usage Guide: PS3Index Guide (I recommend looking over the guide, it really will make large submissions easier.)

Hopefully we can get a heap of people to submit games and get a decent database going. I recognise that there are websites such as Sony Index, but they are far from complete. You can also just view the database in its current format.

115w ago - Sony's Senior Director Susan Panico at PlayStation Network has announced today that Online Storage for PS3 Game Saves is coming to PlayStation Plus alongside PlayStation 3 Firmware 3.60 update.

To quote: We've got an exciting new feature coming exclusively to PlayStation Plus subscribers. Included in the system software update (v3.60) coming tomorrow to PS3, PlayStation Network's new online storage for game saves feature gives PlayStation Plus subscribers the capability to back up game save data to the cloud. Online storage for game saves is a great way for PlayStation Plus subscribers to ensure that their data files are secure and also for users who wish to access their files from other PS3 systems.

The new online storage feature allows gamers to store up to 150MB of game save data and a maximum of 1000 data files per PSN account. Users also have the ability to back-up "copy-prohibited save data," and all previously saved data may be restored once per 24 hour period. When the new feature launches, most PS3 titles will be compatible with online storage for game saves, and moving forward, all new titles will have the capability to offer the storage option.

As I mentioned before, online storage for game saves functionality is included automatically for PlayStation Plus subscribers...

118w ago - Update: Dutch site PS3Clan.nl has now confirmed that it is indeed possible to share your DC Universe Online PS3 disc with a friend and play the game for free, noting simply that both users will need to pay the subscription fee.

While not as bad as previous rumors, today LazyGamer.net (linked above) reports that Sony has confirmed DC Universe Online PS3 discs are locked to a single PSN account connected to their first player.

Essentially what this means is when you buy and play DC Universe Online, your PSN account will be automatically tied with that specific PlayStation 3 game disc.

If other PSN accounts try to play the game using that disc, they will be denied. Only you, the first player, will be able to play it.

To quote: "We discovered that DC Universe becomes linked to your account when you activate it, destroying your ability to sell it, trade it or rent it.

The folks at SOE were very quick to respond to our enquiry, and they had the following to say:
