The original Mushroom Wars is a fast-paced and accessible RTS, with a quaint, anime-inspired visual style in which players send their cute armies into battle, upgrade their mushroom bases, improve their weaponry and fight skirmishes in close-quarter maps.
Mushroom Wars Online introduces several expansions to these features, the most exciting being the ability to spread their fungal domination into the online realm with four-player online multiplayer support.
Along with the addition of online multiplayer support, Mushroom Wars Online introduces a number of new features to the original title, including local multiplayer support for up to four players. Players can enjoy custom matches against online friends for training and entertainment, or watch others battle from the sidelines to hone their strategic skills....
142w ago - Consisting of 1,716 PlayStation 3 consoles linked together and utilizing OtherOS, the Rome Research Lab has announced the completion of their new PS3 Condor Supercomputer, which is now fully online and claimed to be in the top 40 most powerful supercomputers.
Currently it is being loaned out to universities so they can crunch slightly less dangerous data, and the system is also intended to provide analysts with new levels of detail from pictures gathered from spy planes.
The Condor will enable 24-hour real-time surveillance of a roughly 15 mile-wide area, allowing video processed from radar signals to be viewed in real-time or played back.
Such a system can help to investigate the moments before an event such as an explosion or an ambush on military units. It is part of military developments aiming to achieve constant and detailed surveillance over a wide area.
To quote from HotHardware.com (linked above): With 7 SPE's per PS3 (the eighth is deactivated), the 1,716 systems offer a total of 12,012 processors.
The Condor is, according to the Air Force, one of the forty fastest computers in the world and will hopefully solve a pervasive problem for the modern military. Up until the last sixty years, the various branches of the military all suffered from a...
What: Another way to submit games to the PS3Index. With this application, you browse to the root of your backed up PS3 games, it will find the param.sfo files we are interested in, then you can upload them to the PS3Index.
144w ago - Background: I was tired of the fact that there was no decent resource for finding games based on their TITLE_ID and/or TITLE itself.
Soultion: I developed an online tool. It will allow you to submit a PS3 games "param.sfo" file, have the results not only outputted for you, but added to the PS3Index database. This way everybody can have access.
Problem: I only have a certain amount of backed up games for which I can index.
Soultion: You guys! I need as many people as possible to submit as many games as possible.
Usage Guide:PS3Index Guide (I recommend looking over the guide, it really will make large submissions easier.)
Hopefully we can get a heap of people to submit games and get a decent database going. I recognise that there are websites such as Sony Index, but they are far from complete. You can also just view the database in its current format.
If you have any problems/questions/complaints/compliments/ramblings leave them in this thread.
144w ago - Sony's Senior Director Susan Panico at PlayStation Network has announced today that Online Storage for PS3 Game Saves is coming to PlayStation Plus alongside PlayStation 3 Firmware 3.60 update.
To quote: We've got an exciting new feature coming exclusively to PlayStation Plus subscribers. Included in the system software update (v3.60) coming tomorrow to PS3, PlayStation Network's new online storage for game saves feature gives PlayStation Plus subscribers the capability to back up game save data to the cloud. Online storage for game saves is a great way for PlayStation Plus subscribers to ensure that their data files are secure and also for users who wish to access their files from other PS3 systems.
The new online storage feature allows gamers to store up to 150MB of game save data and a maximum of 1000 data files per PSN account. Users also have the ability to back-up "copy-prohibited save data," and all previously saved data may be restored once per 24 hour period. When the new feature launches, most PS3 titles will be compatible with online storage for game saves, and moving forward, all new titles will have the capability to offer the storage option.
As I mentioned before, online storage for game saves functionality is included automatically for PlayStation Plus subscribers...
