Video: PS Vita Proof of Concept: Installing PKG Games & Apps Demo

500°
88w ago - Recently French PlayStation Vita developer NtRnOs shared a Proof of Concept (PoC) video demo on installing PKG games and applications on the PS Vita handheld console.

Below are the details, roughly translated:

This proof is not a hack but just to show how to install PKG PSVita outside the circle with the usual and customary and PSN content manager "PSViTA/PS3/PC"

  • Download your PKG then copy it to a storage system external or internal to the PS3.
  • Install it on your PS3 via "install package" (this may take a few minutes).
  • Find it in the queue (TASK) files to install the PS3 (PSVita download content via PS3 or transferred PKG PSVita will not install on your PS3, they just put in the queue waiting to be transferred to a system PSVita).
  • Connect your PSVita to your PS3 and go to the content manager (PSVita)
  • On your PS3, you should find your PKG copied earlier in the queue for the PS3, click to install it (the PS3 will ask you to connect the PSVita for the transfer).
  • In the content manager of PSVita select PS3 PSVita transfer and application, and the ones you want to transfer.
  • To finish the PS3 delete the file from your system and you find the application / game installed on your PSVita.
  • PS3 PKG checks PSVita...

Video: PS Vita Running PSX / PS1 Games with eCFW TN-C Demo

550°
88w ago - Following up on their previous update, today [Register or Login to view links] has shared a PlayStation Vita demo video and guide on running PSX / PS1 games at full speed (with no sound) via eCFW TN-C on Sony PS Vita Firmware 2.01 below.

Download: [Register or Login to view links] / [Register or Login to view links] (Mirror)

To quote: In this video I show you that its possible to run PS1 games at the TN-C CFW. This is also working at the lower firmwares, you don't need the upcoming 2.01 exploit for it.

Just put the 2 PRX files into your exploit savegame folder and PSX (PS1) games should be working from the TNMenu. Other menues arent tested yet.

This should be working with every TN-C release for the PS Vita. The PS Vitas OFW shouldnt be important, it should be working for 1.6x, 1.80, 1.81 and 2.0x firmwares (avaible soon).

Greetings The Z

Video: Persona 4 Golden is PS Vita's Top-Rated Game, Trailer Out

100°
89w ago - Atlus Marketing Manager Robyn Mukai has proclaimed that Persona 4 Golden is PS Vita's top-rated game today and shared a video trailer below.

To quote: It goes without saying that PlayStation.Blog readers are the some of the savviest, most informed gamers out there. So it almost seems silly to tell you that since its launch on November 20th, [Register or Login to view links] has held the honor of being the highest-rated PS Vita title ever according to Metacritic and Gamerankings. Are you surprised?

Of course not, because you know P4G's immersive 100+ hour adventure backwards and forwards. You know the grounded, relatable characters that are at turns emotional, then hilarious. (Trial of the Dragon, anyone?) You're more than proficient at finding, fusing, and customizing all the best, strongest Personas to handle Kanji's steamy bathhouse boss battle.

You've memorized the list of upgrades and new content that have helped bring Persona 4 Golden to even greater heights of critical success than the beloved PlayStation 2 version it's based on. We know you know all this and so have no desire to pump this blog post full of extraneous information.

HOWEVER, as you may have a few less sophisticated...

Lucid Games Introduces Travel Bug, New Discovery App for PS Vita

100°
90w ago - Lucid Games Creative Director Craig Howard has officially introduced Travel Bug today, a new discovery application for PS Vita users.

To quote: We are really excited to present Travel Bug, a new PS Vita Discovery app available for free download later today.

The premise of Travel Bug is simple. You first hatch a bug, then name it, then, using near, send it out on an adventure. Once it's out in the real world, you will get regular updates as it meets strangers on its travels until it comes back to your PS Vita.

So let's talk about the intrepid explorers: the Travel Bugs.

The first time you start the app, you will see a little larvae sitting on a leaf of your Home Tree. Tap it and it will hatch your first Travel Bug. You can name it and dress it up with items from the bug shop, then it's time to send it out on its first adventure.

Although you start with just one bug, you can then go hunting for others. If you hit sync in the game, you will activate near, which will gather any nearby bugs and pop them in your net. Here you can check out the bugs and decide if you want to help them out on a journey.

All of the bugs that you help will appear on spare leaves on your home tree where you can tap on them and find out more about them, and even see if...
