137w ago - A few weeks ago PSP2 was confirmed by developers, and today according to VG247.com (linked above) a British source claims Sony's PSP2 handheld will be released during Holiday 2011.
To quote: "Developers and publishers have been told that PSP2 will release at the end of next year, a British source familiar with the matter has told VG247.
"We've been told it's coming in late 2011," said our man.
PSP2 is about as badly concealed as a games system can be. It's been common knowledge for much of this year that content is being made for the system, and that dev kits are in the wild. CPU and GPU specs have yet to be confirmed.
Sony has been obviously silent on the chatter, but has gone on the record to say there are "no plans" to include 3D. This tallies with what we've been told in the past month.
The machine has a forward-facing and backward-facing camera, and will come with both touch-screen and physical controls."

142w ago - Sony's Social Media Manager Jeff Rubenstein has shared a video preview of Valkyria Chronicles II, which hits PSP and PSPgo handhelds today online and via UMD.
To quote: Every time we post anything on Valkyria Chronicles, someone pipes up about how they never got past Chapter 7 in the first game.
That battle threw a late-level boss and a massive (but by no means the game's massive-est) tank at you - at the same time. It separated the men from the boys, if you will, and if you beat that chapter, you probably went on to beat the entire game.
SEGA has heard your pleas. In Valkyria Chronicles II - out today - you can bring a friend or 3 for the ride. I tried out the multiplayer recently, and it didn't behave how I'd expect; even though this is a turn-based Strategy RPG, the you and your colleagues move at the same time, in real time. SEGA's Aaron Webber tells us more:
143w ago - Chillingo's Head of Publishing Johnny Coghlan has revealed today that Angry Birds is heading to PSP via PlayStation Minis, and is visually optimized for Sony's PSPgo handheld.
To quote: In Angry Birds, players take control of a flock of different birds as they attempt to retrieve their precious eggs from a fiendish group of thieving pigs.
The pigs have taken refuge within levels containing structures made up of materials such as wood, glass and stone. There are over 100 levels to play through! The object of the game is to catapult the birds into the pigs and their protective barriers, in order to eliminate the pigs and rescue the eggs.
Each level gives the player a certain number of birds to catapult at the pigs using a giant slingshot.
There are six different types of bird, each with its own appearance, weight, sound effects and special abilities such as exploding or splitting into three mini-birds for maximum impact! If the birds hit the pigs or knock a piece of material onto a pig, the pig may explode into thin air and disappear.
When all of the pigs are defeated without the player running out of birds to catapult, the level is complete and a new level is unlocked! Players may re-attempt levels as many times...
148w ago - Today Just Add Water CEO Stewart Gilray has announced on Sony's PlayStation Blog that Gravity Crash Portable for PSP and PSPgo is hitting PSN soon.
To quote: Well, it's finally here! Gravity Crash Portable is being released on July 20th for $9.99.
During the development of the PSP version, we made some changes based on feedback to the PS3 version. Things that you guys asked for, and things that we felt needed to be looked at. To tantalise you in anticipation here's a list of some of what has changed...
• We've added a third ship. An anti-gravity ship. When playing, if you let go of the analog stick you will no longer plunge to your death.
• We've increased the number of special weapon slots from 3 to 5.
• We've added a lot more weapon pickups throughout the levels.
• We've made the Primary Objectives more recognizable on the radar (via BIG FLASHING DOTS).
• We originally used the old-school concept of three lives, then Game Over. We have now removed that; if you get Game Over, you can start from where you left off.
• We completely re-wrote the "paint" aspect of the editor, to make it faster and cleverer in relation to holes.
• We've added a new game mode, Survivor mode, where...
