39w ago - Sony Blog Manager Fred Dutton announced today that the upcoming Dust 514 Neocom PS Vita application promises MMO on the go for fans.
To quote: Looking for a little more depth from your FPS? Hugely ambitious free-to-play sci-fi shooter Dust 514 might be just the ticket. CCP's PlayStation 3 exclusive sits alongside its enormously popular PC space MMO Eve Online, with players' actions in one game directly affecting the environment in the other.
See our recent post from the Icelandic developer for more on exactly how this plays out.
The third string to the whole intriguing project is Dust 514 Neocom - a companion PS Vita app that lets you interact with various systems from the PlayStation 3 game directly from your handheld.
In search of a little more information on exactly how it works, we collared CCP Creative Director Atli Mars Sveinsson and Marketing Director Cameron Payne at last week's Gamescom event in Cologne, Germany.
"It's a companion app to the PS3 game," explains Payne. "It brings all the customisation, community and commerce features onto the Vita. There's no direct gameplay but you can use pretty much all the features that...
40w ago - Media Molecule Studio Director Siobhan Reddy has officially revealed their new project today, dubbed Tearaway for Sony's PlayStation Vita handheld console!
To quote: Tearaway is kind of like a buddy movie. It stars iota, a messenger from a paper dimension, whose envelope head contains an urgent message to deliver... to you!
It's a very special message, and one that's unique for each and every player. In order to read yours, you'll need to take up the role of co-star and, together with iota, journey through the vibrant papery landscape -- two buddies going on an epic adventure.
You and iota will travel afar, taking on enemies and helping those in need. You'll conquer adversity and discover magical papery surprises. But in Tearaway, you're holding more than just a PS Vita in your hands - you're holding the paper world itself!
Using the god-like powers inherent to someone who can hold an entire world in their giant hands, you can make your presence felt using a wide range of godly powers that take advantage of all the PS Vita's bells and whistles -- some subtle and some epic.
You can shake things up or turn them upside down. A gentle breath from you is a gusty storm. You can even poke your fingers into the back of the PS Vita to tear through into the world...
40w ago - Robomodo President Josh Tsui has announced today that Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD is grinding onto PSN this August 28th.
To quote: Finally, we can talk about Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD for PS3.
We are so grateful for everyone's patience on this, and we want to make sure you all know that everyone at Robomodo and Activision has been busting their butts to get it out there.
Now we can safely announce that after a lot of hard work, sweating and some crying (just a little), the game will be released August 28th on PSN in North America.
Game development is probably the hardest form of entertainment to put together, and making sure a game plays well across different machines is way tougher than anyone can imagine.
If there was a "Make PS3" button, we would've been tempted to hit that a long time ago. But we wanted to take the time to fix a few things and make sure that the PS3 experience is everything it can be.
The wait has been excruciating for us. We know that the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series has historically been very tightly tied to PlayStation consoles. For me, it was a key game in my career. In 1999 I had just left my first game development job, so I and a few others broke off and started a new studio.
41w ago - Zindagi Games Project Manager Colin O'Hara has posted up a video showcasing Sports Champions 2's improved Archery Mode for fans below today.
To quote: Sports Champions 2 will be releasing this fall for PlayStation Move, adding new sports such as skiing, boxing, tennis, bowling and golf, in addition to a much-evolved archery mode.
These six sports lend themselves particularly well to motion gaming, with some requiring strategy and finesse and others a blend of speed and reaction time.
But given the popularity of Archery in the original Sports Champions, we wanted to demonstrate how far we've come with Sports Champions 2. Read on for lots of new details!
One early goal was to eliminate the need for PlayStation Move calibration, which could be pretty annoying in the first game. We are now able to get enough starting data when you turn on the game or a controller, and we've integrated some of the information gathering into the games themselves - along with some corrective behind-the-scenes calibration - so you can just play.
But our primary goal with Archery this time around was to combine the competitive nature of the original game with the fast-paced, high-action style of Medival Moves:...
