246w ago - Although many here have already upgraded their PS3 HDD, those who haven't yet due to being intimidated by the task may wish to check out the following guide:
It's not as intimidating as it looks. If you can handle a screw driver, you can swap out your PS3 hard disk.
PS3 Hard Drive Upgrade Options:
Western Digital - 320GB Western Digital - 500GB
Since we were the guinea pigs, we'll briefly inform you of where we went wrong and how you can upgrade without error.
1. Careful with the screws - I make this the first point even before backing up because of issues we both had. I could be wrong, but the PS3 screws are made of some soft metal such as pewter. We both stripped out at least one screw.
2. Backup Data - Either flash drives or external hard drives can be used for this process. If you NEED all your saved games back, make sure you have a FAT32 external hard drive, and run the backup utility from "System Settings" then "Backup Utility".

255w ago - On sale Tuesday 20th January, the latest issue of Official PlayStation Magazine UK will have the first official Killzone 2 review, Future publishing announced this morning.
Not only do you get a review, you get a "highly collectable" holographic wallet which has an image of a Helghast trooper on it and it also "shifts colour as the light catches it."
"Killzone 2 is without doubt the best looking game on the PlayStation 3, and we wanted to come up with a treatment that mirrored the visual voodoo which the development team at Guerrilla Games has pulled off," said Tim Clark, Editor in Chief of Official PlayStation Magazine UK.
"We couldn't be happier with the finished results."
David Wilson, UK PR Manager at Sony Computer Entertainment UK, added:
"Killzone 2 has been a long time in the making, and best showcases why PlayStation 3 is the only console powerful enough to deliver a ground-breaking title of this nature. Who better to partner with than the Official PlayStation Magazine, in order to offer the readers a special collectors edition issue. It's a great way to celebrate the launch of this milestone game."

255w ago - Sony has attempted to justify its policy in North America where gamers will only get the KillZone 2 demo if they pre-order the game.
MTV Multiplayer received this response from Scott Steinberg, vice president of product marketing at Sony Computer Entertainment America:
Offering a playable demo to motivate preorders speaks to our confidence in the appeal of a game such as Killzone 2. We take this approach when we are convinced that the experience will cement a consumer's interest in purchasing.
Retailers will then merchandise those demos within their stores and online to maximize their visibility. Through this process, consumers are often times able to reserve their copy of the final game, which provides an incentive to purchase and helps seal the deal.
We also offer demos on the PSN, which we have done in the past with great success, and will continue to make that available. Killzone 2, for example, will have a downloadable demo launch in North America the week that the game is launching, for consumers who prefer that option.
And what if you don't pre-order "Killzone 2″ but want to try the demo? It's slated for release as a download from the PlayStation Network on PS3 for Thursday, February 26, a day before the game's official release date. That...
261w ago - Speaking in IGN's latest Play Beyond podcast, Jeff Haynes revealed that even during the heaviest loads, Killzone 2 utilizes roughly only 60 per cent of the PlayStation 3 SPU's.
"It's incredible to see huge levels and see the deferred rendering and note that on all the SPU's, even on the heaviest load were coming up to about 60%," Haynes said.
"They weren't coming close to maxing out. They had about 40% of space before they started tripping or saw slow down on some of the processes."
Furthermore, Haynes noted that the preview codes recently distributed to various media outlets were of an alpha build of the title, and have since been polished up. Visiting Guerilla Games in Amsterdam, Haynes was shown an updated version of the game, mid to late beta, noting that elements such as lighting, cut scenes, glitches, load times, have all been optimized.
Killzone 2 is due out exclusively on PlayStation 3 on February 27, 2009.
