Hideo Kojima Working on New Title

400°
353w ago - Metal Gear Solid 4 will bring an end to the Solid Snake line of Metal Gear games. But, just in case you've heard rumors to the otherwise, it won't bring an end to series creator Hideo Kojima.

Speaking with Japan's Nikkei BP website, Konami president Fumiaki Tanaka revealed that Kojima is working on the concept for a new game outside of the Metal Gear universe. Pressed further on this mystery title, or possibly titles, Tanaka said that he couldn't reveal anything at this point and that a formal announcement won't be coming this year. Instead, we can probably look forward to hearing something after Kojima has written the new title's scenario, which won't happen until after MGS4 has been released and Metal Gear Online has been given a major push.

In other Metal Gear Solid 4 news, Tanaka revealed to the site that Konami expects sales to be similar to past titles. While the sales focus is on the European and North American markets, the company is aiming for sales of one million in Japan alone. Nikkei pointed out to Tanaka that the PS3 hardware has yet to hit the two million mark in Japan, to which Tanaka noted that many users are waiting for MGS4 to buy a PS3. He also feels that because a number of major PS3 titles from other companies will be released before MGS4, the system's userbase total will rise.

Metal Gear Solid 4 Finally Has A Relase Date

50°
355w ago - MGS4 releasing on June 12, 2008 according to Destination PlayStation. Awaiting Konami confirmation!

To quote the source above: Word from Destination PlayStation, a retailers-only conference for all things PlayStation related, is that Metal Gear Solid 4 is coming to the PlayStation 3 on June 12, 2008.

According to sources there now, the release of Kojima Productions action-stealth game will arrive on a Thursday, oddly enough. Even more interesting is that we're hearing word that Sony will be offering a hardware bundle that features MGS4, an 80GB PlayStation 3 and a DualShock 3 packed-in.

We're checking with Konami for official word on the matter and will update with additional information soon.

PSW: Konami rep confirmed MGS 4 demo may hit in February

50°
360w ago - Update: I e-mailed the editor of PSW and asked him to confirm that this is true, and he replied that a Konami Rep confirmed that the build they played will be on PSN sometime in relation to the games release. If the game stays on track as Konami has said so far then it should arrive around Feb as the magazine states.

A journalist decided to e-mail the PSW magazine editor who indicated that a MGS 4 demo will hit PSN next month. The editor replied by stating that at the time of writing the article a Konami rep told PSW that the demo they played in the office would be appearing on the PSN store.

However the release of the demo could depend on the game's actual final sale date but February is very possible.

To quote: At the time of writing the article a Konami rep told us a demo, the demo we played in our office for the magazine article, would be on the PSN Store.

It's finished, we played it, so something should be appearing this month. It could all depend on the game's final on sale date, if it has moved to May then a demo could appear later, possibly February.

The PS3 patch also resolves an issue to do with downloading the game to the hard drive, but Konami reassure us that they are still working on improvements.

Konami will continue to look into ways to extend users' enjoyment of PES 2008 and is still working on improvements.
