118w ago - Today Reverge Labs Designer, Producer and Community Manager Peter Bartholow has introduced Skullgirls - the next Generation of PSN fighters.
To quote: A few weeks ago, you may have noticed that Street Fighter IV's venerable producer Yoshinori Ono said he was looking forward to a new game called "Skullgirls."
A lot of you probably hadn't even heard of the game before, so I'm here to remedy that.
Skullgirls is more than just a PSN fighting game, it's the realization of two peoples' long-held dreams... seriously! Creative director Alex "o_8" Ahad has been working on the characters and story since he was in high school, and project lead Mike "Mike Z" Zaimont had been working on a fighting game engine in his free time since 2008.
When mutual friends introduced them to each other, Skullgirls was born. Joining the recently founded Reverge Labs team in 2010, they signed with publisher Autumn games, and at E3 Konami announced that it will be distributing Skullgirls.
Skullgirls takes place in the Canopy Kingdom, a country reminiscent of a 1940's post-war America tinged with magic and intrigue. Hanging over the kingdom is the legend of the Skull Heart: this ancient artifact is said to be able to...
121w ago - D3Publisher Assistant Producer Miki Takahashi has introduced some of the new characters today in the upcoming White Knight Chronicles II title for PlayStation 3.
To quote: I wanted to give you a brief outline of the story and characters of White Knight Chronicles ll, which will hit U.S. PS3s this fall.
The original game "White Knight Chronicles: International Edition" (included with WKCII) began with the day of Princess Cisna's coming-of-age banquet in the Kingdom of Balandor.
When the ceremony is suddenly raided by a mysterious organization called Magi, young winemaker apprentice Leonard lead the princess to safety in the castle cellars, where he found a legendary weapon called the Incorruptus.
Leonard gains the knightly powers of the Incorruptus and sets out on a journey to save Princess Cisna with his friends: Yulie, Leonard's childhood friend; Eldore, an old but skilled warrior; and Caesar, the son of the ruler of Greede.
However, the journey to rescue Princess Cisna became a harsh one. They overcame many challenges before Leonard and his friends came to realize that they had gotten caught up in a war that had been raging since ancient times – the Dogma Wars, a brutal battle that begin 10,000 years ago across the entire continent. And they may have...

128w ago - Today PlayStation Correspondent Andy Burt has shared details from developer Minority's introduction to the dream-like world of Papo & Yo on PSN.
To quote: Puzzle-platformers are no rare breed on PSN, but one upcoming title, Papo & Yo, is looking to revitalize the genre in a number of intriguing ways.
Introduced in early June, Papo & Yo tells the story of Quico, a young boy who has an unlikely best friend: a giant hulking beast named, appropriately, Monster. Together, the duo must navigate an ethereal world that's reminiscent of a South American town but is set entirely in Quico's imagination. The world itself is made up of dream-like neighborhoods to roam and populated with puzzles to solve.
After getting my hands on the game at E3, it didn't take long to notice the unique approach developer Minority is taking when it comes to navigation and puzzle solving. Controlling Quico from a third-person perspective, I wandered a bit around Papo & Yo's surreal world.
Players can easily run and jump around the expansive environments, and also use visual cues to direct Monster (as well as a cute little flying robot named Lula) to points of interest. Utilizing all three characters to solve puzzles is key to progressing in the game, and...
129w ago - Today RSBLSB (Right Square Bracket Left Square Bracket) Creator Shawn McGrath has introduced their first PS3 game called Dyad for PSN alongside a video trailer below.
To quote: I am very excited to be introducing RSBLSB's Game's first PlayStation Network game: Dyad.
Dyad is an abstract racing game that has influences in many genres including racing games, fighting games, puzzle games and classic arcade shooters.
Dyad does away with the traditional racing game mechanics of break and accelerate and replaces them with puzzle-like mechanics. You must interact with your enemies in unique and varying ways in order to gain speed.
I've always loved the visceral feel racing games provided, especially the WipeOut series, and I wanted to translate that feeling into a puzzle game. In most racing games, each track has an ideal 'racing line' which players must memorize and translate into muscle memory in order to be successful - I remember months of repeating tracks in WipeOut XL for the PSX!
With Dyad I replaced the mental process of memorizing a racing line with various combo mechanics. Dyad begins with very basic comboing rules centred around...
