100°
207w ago - Today Crystal Dynamics has revealed to IGN that Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light is getting a staggered multiplayer rollout.

The video game is heading to Xbox Live on August 18th, however, Guardian of Light will not feature online multiplayer until Sony's PS3 and PC users join the party.

To quote: "Although the full single-player campaign and local co-op will be available, online multiplayer will arrive in a free update on September 28th - the same day the full game and online multiplayer will be available on the PlayStation Network and Steam.

From October to December, there will be five additional downloadable packs that will be made available.

Although the specific content of these packs is still unclear, we do know that the first three will be standard expansions that feature new puzzles, exploration sequences and combat scenes. The following two downloadable packs will introduce new characters into the mix."

Video: Coconut Dodge for PS3 and PSP Minis Gets a Free Update

50°
213w ago - FuturLab's Managing Director James Marsden has announced today alongside a video that Coconut Dodge for PS3 and PSP Minis is getting a free update soon.

To quote: I didn't think I would be back here so soon, but we've been hard at work creating a free update to Coconut Dodge!

It's essentially a Director's cut, as we've had a bit more time on our hands to add extra polish and extra features! We've also listened to all the feedback you've given us so far, and implemented a bunch of your suggestions

Here's a list of the updates:

1) 3 Lives - This has been the most requested feature. The game is still a great challenge with three lives, and to reward you for playing the game without being hit, you'll get 20,000 bonus points on levels 10, 20 and 30 if you manage to do it without being hit at all. So, the hardest of the hardcore will have the highest score

2) Quit and Restart from Pause menu. This is something we wanted to do initially, but didn't have the time. It's now in all modes of the game (gave something away there!) and works as expected!

3) A different SuperTurbo run animation. It's faster, with bigger plumes of sand, so that you can tell easier when you've activated SuperTurbo speed.

4) A subtle sound...

They are the two new disc based SingStar titles coming out towards the end of the year. SingStar Dance allows two people to dance along using the PlayStation Move motion controller in addition to two singers. With SingStar Guitar, you can use any guitar controller you have for other games and play along while your friends sing.

Dave Ranyard, SingStar's game director, stood still for a minute to talk about the latest additions to the hit series.

"The key thing for us is to give people new features while retaining that classic SingStar look and feel," he said. "For me, SingStar is all about family parties and these new features encourage more people to get involved."

To give your movements purpose when playing SingStar Dance, there is a dancing...

SOCOM Cheater Gets Probation for Hacking PlayStation Web site

550°
221w ago - Today Techeye.net (linked above) reports via [Register or Login to view links] that a 17-year-old SOCOM US Navy Seals cheater who got kicked off Sony's PlayStation site retaliated by hacking it, and as a result he was sentenced to a year's probation.

In addition, the Latrobe teen will also have to perform 250 hours of community service and pay Sony $5,000 in damages.

Apparently Sony asked for more than $33,200 in restitution, but the judge ruled that amount would be too excessive for the teen.

To quote: "Coppers claimed that the teen crippled Sony's online PlayStation site in retaliation for being kicked off the site for cheating while playing a war game called SOCOM US Navy Seals.

He used hacker tools to contact a botnet and these were directed clog three games on the PlayStation site, causing it to crash and go off-line.

Sony wanted $33,200 in restitution, but the judge ruled that amount would be too excessive for the teen."
