82w ago - Assistant Producer Nicolo Accordino has posted up a video today announcing that Smart As will be bringing next-gen brain training to PS Vita this Fall.
To quote: It's my pleasure to bring you news of a brand new mind-sharpening game for PS Vita: Smart As.
Launching this fall, Smart As is a social brain-training experience that will put your brain to the test with 20 unique, engaging, tactile and highly interactive puzzle games.
This next-gen puzzle game will also enable you to share your stats with players from around the world using a robust set of social and connective features.
Produced by XDev Europe, Smart As takes full advantage of PS Vita's touchscreens, cameras and Augmented Reality capabilities to deliver Daily Training challenges featuring fun arithmetic, logic, language and observation-based puzzles.
Your scores from each puzzle are used to calculate your overall Brain Power and anybody at any skill level can get in on the fun. The more you play, the better your chances are of increasing your Brain Power score and unlocking new puzzle games.
The best part about Smart As is that it's not just a brain training game; it's a social experience. Once you've earned...
87w ago - SCE Worldwide Studios President Shu Yoshida has announced today that the PS1 RPG classic The Legend of Dragoon is coming to PSN on May 1, 2012.
To quote: The Legend of Dragoon was one of the last projects I worked on as a producer in Japan Studio and by far the biggest team I managed hands-on.
We started the project in 1996 with only a handful of people, hired one by one as we were building up teams for Ape Escape, The Legend of Dragoon, and Ico simultaneously. During the peak of the game's development, we had well over 100 people working internally in the studio on The Legend of Dragoon - for a PSone game!
We had roughly 10 artists dedicated just to drawing concept art for this gigantic RPG. As the game contained lots of pre-rendered maps and full-motion videos, we were forced to spread the content over four CDs, which was the maximum number of discs that the fattest PSone game case could hold.
It took nearly three years to build the team and develop the game, which was released in December 1999 in Japan and June 2000 in the US. As I moved from Japan to the US in March 2000, I was able to personally handle the game's release in both Japan and the US.
Following the game's launch in Japan, we learned from players that certain parts of the game were too difficult....

88w ago - Sony Senior Social Media Specialist Sid Shuman has shared details today courtesy of NIS on their upcoming PS3 RPG games including Legasista, Mugen Souls, and The Witch And The Hundred Knights.
To quote: Last night was a big moment for NIS, the developer of fan-favorite tactical RPGs such as Disgaea and Phantom Brave.
The publisher's US arm, NIS America, announced three new PS3-exclusive games set to roll out over the next calendar year: dungeon crawler Legasista, strategy-RPG Mugen Souls, and action-RPG The Witch and the Hundred Knights.
We sat down with NIS America Producer Jack Niida to learn more about each of the new titles. Enjoy, and leave your thoughts in the comments.
Legasista for PS3 (PSN)
This post-apocalyptic 2D-styled dungeon crawler – NIS America is describing it as a "survival action-RPG" – takes place in a far-flung future where science has been forgotten and technology is treated with superstitious awe.
The gameplay and concept will be familiar to fans of the ClaDun series, but Legasista ups the ante by enabling you to customize your weapon and skills, creating "thousands of attack combos." This PS3-exclusive...
97w ago - Today Andrew Terrett of the SSX Marketing has shared a video revealing SSX Mt Fuji details and reviving a genre on the PlayStation 3 entertainment system.
To quote: SSX is just over a month away, and we're excited to give our PS3 fans in North America some exclusive content to keep you busy on the slopes.
Mt. Fuji, the legendary Japanese mountain will only available on PS3 in North America. The mountain that owns the horizon in Tokyo is packed with six unique event drops. Three race drops and three trick drops will have PS3 players carving down and in the majestic landmark in true SSX fashion - with a complete disregard for the laws of physics.
From racing through cherry blossoms to tricking off Torii gates, North American Playstation gamers will have something unique to look forward to when SSX arrives on Feb 28th.
Now a few words from the creative director on bringing back SSX from Creative Director Todd Batty:
"Extreme Sports is a dead genre." Over the past three years I can't tell you how many times I have heard this. As a gamer who has been playing for more than 20 years and, as a huge fan of games like SSX and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, it is also something that I refuse to believe.
Don't get me wrong: I enjoy blowing things up and shooting...
