139w ago - Today SCEE's James Gallagher has shared a new Street Fighter x Tekken gameplay trailer and details.
To quote: At Captivate last week, Capcom unveiled the first batch of playable characters in Street Fighter X Tekken: Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, Guile and Abel from Street Fighter and Kazuya, Nina Williams, King, Marduk and Bob from Tekken.
Afterwords, Producer Yoshinori Ono spoke how Street Fighter X Tekken came to be.
In his words... When we [Capcom] took that 10 year break between releasing Street Fighter games, I feel that Tekken diligently stoked the fighting game campfire and kept people interested. With Street Fighter IV we tossed kerosene on that fire and got fans really excited about fighting games again.
I was having dinner with the Tekken director [Katsuhiro] Harada-san shortly after Street Fighter IV came out and we got talking about how we could keep that campfire burning. We were half-joking when we first conceived this collaboration, but it did seem like a great idea to both of us and pretty soon we were both saying, 'you go back to your office and I'll go back to mine... let's synchronise watches and convince everyone that we...
156w ago - Sony's Social Media Manager Jeff Rubenstein has shared an Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception PS3 gameplay reveal today.
To quote: Today, even more came out about UNCHARTED 3, as Naughty Dog and SCEA hosted media in Hollywood for a more in-depth look at the game.
Worry not, those of you who feared the entirety of Drake's Deception would take place in the swirling sands of the Rub' al-Khali Desert.
The scene we witnessed (demoed in real time) took place in a dilapidated French chateau. Nathan Drake and Sully are following the trail of T.E. Lawrence (you've likely heard of "Lawrence of Arabia") to find a clue that'll take them to the lost Arabian referred to as "The Atlantis of the Sands."
Before reading on, take a look at this excerpt, which shows about a quarter of what was demoed.
Early on, we see some of the details that Game Director Justin Richmond tells us to keep an eye out for: Drake jumping onto, and then off of a swaying chandelier, climbing not only up, but backwards if he reaches a ledge, and new contextual animations that show Drake interacting more with his surroundings (e.g. placing your hand along a wall for balance as you approach it).
156w ago - Today Insomniac Games Senior Community Manager James Stevenson has made available some Resistance 3 PS3 gameplay video footage from the VGAs, and for those curious the title will arrive on 9/6/11!
You'll see some more live-action (ala our Cologne reveal trailer), representing two moments from the game: a treacherous boat journey, and a brutal arena battle. You'll also see gameplay footage during the boat sequence, as Joseph Capelli and Dr. Malikov make their way through a flooded city filled with Grims while trying to avoid Chimeran death squads.
If you missed the post from Resistance 3 Creative Director Marcus Smith earlier this week, you should check it out. It brings you up to date on all the info we've released (including the first details about the storyline and our two-player online / split-screen campaign co-op). Click here to find out more.
158w ago - Insomniac Games Creative Director Marcus Smith has shared a preview video and confirmed today that a Resistance 3 PS3 gameplay trailer is set to debut at the VGAs.
To quote: I wanted to stop by and give you an update about what's been going on over the last couple of months.
You may remember the live-action trailer that we revealed during GamesCom to formally announce Resistance 3. We're very excited to reveal that we will be following that up with a new trailer, premiering exclusively during the Spike Video Game Awards (Saturday, December 11th in the States, check your local listings for time and network if you're outside the US).
The trailer continues the live action experience, showing live-action snippets of three moments in the game, while also bringing you your first glimpse of actual gameplay from Resistance 3. Check out a teaser for the trailer below:
We hope this continues to help set the tone that Resistance 3 represents, so stay tuned for the show next week...
In it you'll find more footage on combat, augmentations, in-game menus, and upgrade trees than we've ever publicly shown. If you pay attention, you might even sneak a peek at our hacking mini-game and a weapon modification that toys with the term "hand cannon."
And to those of you who think you've seen everything after watching the leaked footage (yeah, we know it exists...), to quote legendary Canadian rock group Bachman Turner Overdrive, "you ain't seen nothin' yet."
In other news, I'm pleased to announce that I and other members of the studio are presently readying content to distribute specifically to this great blog.
After spending four challenging but passionate years developing a sequel to one of the most revered videogames of all-time, everyone involved can't wait to talk. We're very, very excited, and we hope you are too. See you all soon!
