278w ago - Slated for a fall 2008 release Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 combines the attention to detail that has been the series' hallmark with extensive new additions that are certain to cement the franchise's reputation as the world's definitive soccer title for any format.
Known by millions of fans for its superior gameplay and incredible realism, PES 2009 will further bridge the gap between PES and the real thing.
The game has undergone a stunning graphical update to ensure its players look more like their real-life counterparts.
Similarly, all-new options allow users to tailor the game to their own tastes, while new stylish moves, innovative control schemes and key online elements further the realism.
292w ago - Paul Hollywood, creative director at Evolution, said at Sony's PlayStation Day event that a demo for upcoming MotorStorm Pacific Rift is planned.
He also said the game will "be locked at 30 frames-per-second in 720p", something the pre-alpha demo version lacked at the event.
"Yes, there'll be a downloadable demo on the PSN Store before launch," said Evolution's Hollywood. "Autumn 2008 is when we're coming out. I don't know the date or what we're going to do with the demo - that'll be forthcoming."
MotorStorm is an arcade style racer so a stable frame rate is a must for the fast paced action. With the increase in the number of tracks and interaction of the environments its even more crucial to avoid drops.
324w ago - MotorStorm developer Evolution Studios has been acquired by Sony Computer Entertainment, along with Evolution's Bigbig Studios subsidiary, which is responsible for the Pursuit Force series. Both studios will be incorporated with SCE's Worldwide Studios, with Evolution's Managing Director Mick Hocking appointed Group Studio Director for all three studios.
"Our strategy is to create the best games by working with the best talent and Evolution and Bigbig are world-class additions to our team," said Phil Harrison, president of SCE Worldwide Studios. "The incredible people in these studios further extend the depth and skill of the industry's largest platform-exclusive development resource."
Along with news of the acquisition, Sony announced that Evolution Studios is currently at work on a follow-up to MotorStorm, with an expected Blu-ray release in 2008. Evolution Studios is also prepping additional downloadable content for the original MotorStorm, while Bigbig is putting the finishing touches on Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice, which is expected to launch for the PSP this holiday season (though GameStop currently lists a January release). A PlayStation 2 iteration of Extreme Justice should follow early next year.
326w ago - Pro Evolution Soccer might be the critics' favourite but it's FIFA that routinely shifts the larger inventory. That could all be about to change, though.
Once upon a time choosing between the two was a relatively simple matter of preference for recognisable faces and a globally-recognised licence versus what's widely regarded as a provenly superior football videogaming experience. However the differential gap between the two has narrowed significantly in recent years and it's going to be slimmer still, now that Konami has announced a raft of extra licensed teams for the 2008 edition.
We doubt that PES will ever really be able to hold a candle to FIFA for licensed teams, but Konami are certainly giving it a go. Newly-licensed national teams for '08 now include Portugal, Ireland, Greece, Scotland and the important one - Brazil. Meanwhile Newcastle, Tottenham, RSC Anderlecht, HJK Helsinki, IFK Goteborg, Panathinaicos, Spartak Moscow, Fenerbache, NK Dinamo Zagreb and FC Basel join Turin, AC Milan, Celtic, Porto and co in the roster of world famous club sides.
All told PES 2008 boasts more than 250 teams and 3000 licensed players. Not bad. Konami is also keen to highlight PES 2008's enhanced AI system known as 'Teamvision' which, among other things, prevents lowly types from using...
