Sony: PlayStation 3 is Still in the Early Adopter Phase

200°
306w ago - The PlayStation 3 is "still in its early adopter phase", Sony has claimed, despite the console being out for over two years.

Speaking in an [Register or Login to view links] with Gamasutra, John Koller, director of hardware marketing at SCEA, said that the kind of person who was interested in the PS3 was "tech-oriented" and that for them, the console's main appeal was its "multi-functionality".

Sony's PS3 has come under fire from a number of analysts in recent months, many of whom have pointed towards its high price as explanation of its current third place sales position behind the Nintendo Wii and the Xbox 360.

Sony, for its part, has continued to resist calls for a price cut, pointing towards the PS3's high-value as a Blu-ray player and powerful games machine.

Sony: PlayStation Home Was Probably Announced Too Early

200°
307w ago - When asked about the reception Home has had amongst developers, game director Peter Edward admitted to DevelopMag that the social networking service was unveiled a little too soon.

To quote: "Initially, there was real excitement from people, because we were showing something really different and that had a lot of potential. And then there's the realization that, well, we probably announced it too early - GDC 07 was a long time ago. I think there was sort of recognition amongst developers of 'Oh, this is interesting, but there's still a lot of work to be done.'"

That attitude is changing though, according to Edward. "It's mature and everybody's starting to produce some really interesting stuff. As soon as developers start seeing what other people have done, it really starts to build on the excitement."

Hopefully most will agree with Edward - the wait for Home was simply too long. Would our opinions have been different if the wait was shorter? Hopefully, as time goes on, the service will evolve into something that both gamers and developers can get really excited about.

Take-Two: It's Still Too Early for Grand Theft Auto V

50°
310w ago - While it is obviously way too early to be mentioning anything involving Grand Theft Auto V, it's always nice to get a possible release window for the next installment into the record breaking franchise.

According to Ben Feder, Take-Two has too much to focus on currently to be discussing the future of their newly re-signed Rockstar developer.

"We're not saying no, it's just way too early to be talking 2010, especially GTA in 2010."

Does this mean that Grand Theft Auto V could see a potential release in 2010? Though it seems like a legitimate possibility, we doubt that there are any plans to release another iteration within that year, so quickly after the last.

Grand Theft Auto IV Trophy Patch Released Early from RockStar!

250°
317w ago - It appears that RockStar have released the patch early, possibly to reduce strain on the servers.

To quote: So when RockStar says "Monday the 27th of October" it seems they actually mean "the evening of Sunday the 26th."

The GTA IV trophy patch is now live and ready to be downloaded worldwide.

So if you're not too busy exploring Africa, the Ishimura or Rapture, why not have another go around Liberty City?

Keep in mind that you'll have to start a new game as the trophies are not retroactive. But was anyone really expecting them to be?
