Devil May Cry Creator Not Interested in Ninja Gaiden

294w ago - The September issue of EGM brought our editors face-to-face with some of Japan's most celebrated game developers, including PlatinumGames' Hideki Kamiya. Previously responsible for Devil May Cry, Viewtiful Joe, and Okami, the former Capcom designer talked at length about his upcoming action game Bayonetta -- as well as his feelings about his competition. You can check out the full, extended interview in all its sexy glory right here.

You might recall our other big interview with former Team Ninja head Tomonobu Itagaki, where the Ninja Gaiden creator unceremoniously rocked a Ninpo on Okami. In case you were wondering, here's why:

"I've never played Ninja Gaiden, and to be honest, I'm not that interested.

"The quality that gets you interested in something is that you feel something for them. Like on TV, or a movie, or a song, or whatever. You just feel something, and you get pulled into it, and then that's how you pick something up. But Ninja Gaiden just didn't have that power, so that's why I wasn't interested in it.

Kamiya also explained his opinion that the industry has failed to exceed the groundwork he laid with original Devil May Cry, complaining, "I don't know why the baton was dropped, but it is very true that I don't feel...

Lili-Chan has updated to PS3 Theme Builder v2.3 followed by PS3 Theme Builder v2.3a (changelogs below). He also released PS3 Xross Media Simulator v1.0 recently.

In related news, A.R.K. has updated to PS3 Theme Creator v1.7 (FW 2.4 Patch) which includes support for 2.4 FW Themes, and gets patch-updated to PS3 Theme Creator v1.6.

PS3 Theme Builder v2.3a Changelog:

- Sounds Effects will now work in conjunction with the new icons.
- Fixed a bug that was causing some themes to fail to compile
- Bundled the Xross Media Simulator into the application. The Xross Media Simulator replaces the existing 'Test Drive' Functionality.

Q&A session with Siren: Blood Curse's creator, Keiichiro Toyama

305w ago - From the official PlayStation Blog today: By now you might've read about Siren: Blood Curse, an episodic survival horror game coming this summer on PlayStation Network. We also posted the first trailer right here on the PlayStation.Blog.

To give the Blog readers more insight into this game, we held a Q&A session with Siren: Blood Curse's creator, Keiichiro Toyama. We have translated this Q&A for your reading pleasure. We hope you enjoy the creepy insight into the storyline and strategy behind Siren: Blood Curse.

How has Siren: Blood Curse evolved from the PlayStation 2 title? (Is it scarier? More involving storyline?)

With Siren Blood Curse, the leap in visual presentation has helped to convey a tangible sense of fear and makes the player feel as if they've truly been pulled into a nightmarish world. The new split-screen Sight Jacking system also helps give the game a more active pace than the previous titles. When it comes to story, Siren Blood Curse manages to preserve the level of depth and mystery from the previous SIREN games while presenting it in a manner that makes it easier to follow.

How has the story of Hanuda developed? Does Siren: Blood Curse bring a conclusion to the storyline?

Atari creator honored to be played by DiCaprio

305w ago - Original Atari founder Nolan Bushnell says he's "thrilled" to be played by Leonardo DiCaprio in the film about his life.

The news of DiCaprio's signing came earlier this week|, when it was revealed that Paramount Pictures had picked up the project.

"I'm very, very thrilled and honored that would be the case," Bushnell told MTV Multiplayer.

"There's been a lot of books [about Atari]," he said. "Some correct, some incorrect. I've kind of gotten used to being portrayed by others. I kind of thought that this [a movie] might happen. I kind of thought that it wouldn't happen until maybe after I was in the ground for a little while."

The movie is currently without a director, but it will be written by Brian Hecker and Craig Sherman. "I felt that these guy got it in a very, very real way and [knew] what Atari stood for," said the Atari man.

"To me, one of the things that happened with Atari was that it was really almost against all odds," he said. "Nobody thought that video games represented a business. That's the part that I think a lot of people don't understand; if you really work it, you can turn your dream into a reality."

Microsoft Delivers Free Game Creator: PopFly

50°
311w ago - Last week, Microsoft announced the release of PopFly, a simple program that allows users to create games without the need to know any code.

Taking a number of genres as a foundation, PopFly offers a range of templates based on classic arcade games, upon which you can import your own characters, backgrounds, etc.

Once done, the games can then be hosted, on stuff like Web sites, blogs, Facebook pages or even your Vista sidebar. It' Silverlight-only, which is a slight hassle, and is fairly basic, but hey, who said everything on this world had to be perfect?
