214w ago - Update: Microsoft's MajorNelson has now officially confirmed the bans.
This Halloween it appears Microsoft has pulled a TRICK with no TREAT on modified XBox 360 console owners... specifically, mass bans have been initiated against them.
IGN (linked above) have confirmed this news, to quote: "We have taken action against a small percentage of consoles that have been modified to play pirated game discs," a Microsoft spokesperson told IGN.
"In line with our commitment to combat piracy and support safer and more secure gameplay for the more than 20 million members of our Xbox LIVE community, we are suspending these modded consoles from Xbox LIVE."
Though Microsoft wouldn't confirm specifically when these bannings took place, a quick look over on its official forums suggest it's been going on over the course of this past week.
Plenty of users have created threads on the technical feedback forum reporting of having their Xbox 360 console banned.
226w ago - According to CBS11tv.com (linked above), a southern California college student has been arrested on allegations of bypassing the DMCA by installing modchips into consoles.
The federal charges stated that he illegally modified video game consoles to enable the machines to play pirated video games, to quote:
The U.S. Attorney's Office says 27-year-old Matthew Crippen was released Monday night after posting $5,000 bond.
The California State University, Fullerton student who lives in Anaheim is accused of modifying Xbox, PlayStation and Wii consoles in violation of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents got a tip from the Entertainment Software Association and searched Crippen's home in May. He was indicted on two counts by a federal grand jury. Crippen faces 10 years in prison if convicted and is scheduled for arraignment on Aug. 10.

According to Belgium news site 9Lives (linked above), the King of Pop will start his 'This Is It' concert in July... and apparently a new Michael Jackson video game is also in the works.
Although not many details were given, the game which is said to include videoclips and dancesteps will be released on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2 and Nintendo Wii before Holiday 2009.
To quote, roughly translated: The outlook for the Michael Jackson fans are long time never so beautiful as now. Soon the late King of Pop fifty times the O2 Arena in London and flooding it with new material would come out.
According to MJJ Productions they are also working on a video game with Michael Jackson in the lead. Everything will be up and going on, including music, video and dance cards.
What the game will be called was not yet known. The fact is that the video game for Nintendo Wii, PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3 developed and for the Christmas period would come on the market.
