100°
111w ago - THQ UK Interactive Marketing Manager Mike Richardson has shared a video today proclaiming that The Creatures of Darksiders II officially welcome death on the PS3 entertainment system this August.

To quote: We've just released the first all-gameplay trailer for [Register or Login to view links], which sees the most feared of the horseman of the apocalypse, Death, going up against some of the creatures from the game.

The Ancient. The Corrupted. The Holy. The Damned... Death comes for all.

The trailer shows off several key characters from the game, but we wanted to provide additional context as the game marches towards its August 14th release date.

Death

Like his fellow Horsemen, Death is of a race known as Nephilim - among the most powerful beings in the Universe. When mankind received the prize of Eden, Absalom - leader of the Nephilim - led his armies against Heaven and Hell in an attempt to steal it back. For this crime, the Charred Council condemned the Nephilim to destruction.

The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse were granted a reprieve from this fate on the condition they aid the Council's victory over their kin. The Horsemen accepted, but it was Death who bore the greatest burden of guilt...

Mass Effect 3: N7 Weekly Challenges Come to PSN This Weekend

50°
125w ago - Today Bioware Community Manager Eduardo Vasconcellos has announced that Mass Effect 3: N7 weekly challenges are coming to PSN this weekend!

To quote: Priority transmission to alliance soldiers of the playstation network: reinforcements are coming...

From: Admiral Steven Hackett, Citadel Allied Command
Re: Operation EXORCIST
Confidentiality Classification: XA-PRIME
Distribution: N7 Forces Only

Soldiers of the Milky Way - By now it is no secret that the Reaper War has had its share of logistical SNAFUs. It is to the galaxy's credit that, when we put out the call for volunteers, we were answered by individuals of every species from Citadel, Traverse, Terminus space, and most significantly for this operation, the PlayStation Network.

Unfortunately, the diversity of equipment sources meant our allies ran into hardware and software incompatibilities.

These brave men and women have been fighting beside you and, in doing so, have gone above and beyond normal duty. Because their units were not properly tracked, they fought without pay and sometimes without proper training, equipment, even rations. It is a mark of their character that these warriors of the PlayStation Network took the grave task set before us and stuck it out through sheer determination.

Video: Sony Welcomes Fans to WipEout 2048 on PlayStation Vita

50°
133w ago - Sony Product Marketing Manager Wilson Cheng has officially welcomed fans to the year 2048 in the new WipEout 2048 video game on PlayStation Vita today!

To quote: WipEout 2048 on PS Vita takes us 36 years into the future, offering a glimpse at the birth of anti-grav racing - a fictional sport that has become synonymous with PlayStation.

Take a look at our new trailer and pay close attention at the start for an impression of what two WipEout ships squaring up on the streets of modern Britain might look like.

In keeping with the theme, here are a few words from Mick Hocking, Vice President for Liverpool, Evolution and London studios, on where he thinks gaming will be in 2048.

Mick is largely responsible for the creation and development of such series as WipEout, MotorStorm and SingStar, and is well placed discuss where we have been and, crucially, where we are heading.

At gamescom you appeared as part of a panel looking at the shape of gaming in 2021. The latest WipEout game is set in 2048; what will gaming be like then?

Mick Hocking: Well the pace of change is already so fast. Just look at the advances from PSP to PS Vita. In just seven years we have added touch screens,...

Sony Announces Primal: PS2 Cult Classic Comes to PSN Tuesday

100°
133w ago - Sony Creative Director Chris Sorrell has announced today that the PS2 cult classic Primal is coming to PSN on Tuesday.

To quote: Primal grew from a warm, happy, and long-lost place where we were insanely fortunate enough to have an amazing team, an exciting new platform to build for (PlayStation 2!), and the freedom to make the game we wanted to make.

Core influences were some of the awesome TV shows of the day: Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel and Dark Angel to name the foremost. We wanted to build a game that captured the vibe of these shows while also showing off some of the cool technical and artistic things we thought we could achieve with the (then) new PS2.

The premise was a classic: pretty girl meets gargoyle, explores demon worlds, acquires demonic powers, and (spoiler!) has to kill her boyfriend to save the universe.

We were lucky to hook up with our dream voice cast to bring these characters to life - Hudson Leick (best known from the Xena: Warrior Princess) and the fantastic and sadly missed Andreas Katsulas (whose work on Babylon 5 I so admired).

Together they brought a truly unusual warmth to our main characters that stood out at the time, and remains quite special even to this day.

Musically our game world needed some 'bite',...
