Battlefield 1943 is Coming to PS3 via PlayStation Network

400°
277w ago - Today Battlefield 1943 Producer Gordon Van Dyke announced news that Battlefield 1943 is coming to PS3 via PlayStation Network.

To quote: The online multiplayer, first-person-shooter title, Battlefield 1943 for the PSN will take you back to the WWII Pacific Theater in a way never before seen, this June on the PLAYSTATION 3 for only $15!

You'll enjoy three amazing locations with Iwo Jima, Wake Island, and Guadalcanal letting you pilot and drive a variety of airplanes, tanks, and transport vehicles to help you win the battle.

Today is a really exciting day, first it's [Register or Login to view links] here in Sweden celebrating the start of summer's approach with bonfires, yes I said bonfires, and this is done all over the country.

It is quite the sight to see from atop the DICE studio. Another really exciting thing for me today is the release of the Battlefield 1943 trailer for the first time on PSN (later today) and seeing it in full glory on my PS3.

Now before you watch the video, imagine with me flying your Corsair airplane over the tropical Wake Island engaged in a dogfight with a Japanese Zero, you take him down and notice your squad mate's tank about to be flanked by the enemy in another tank.

Battlefield: Bad Company Demo Update

50°
323w ago - The stats database has been reinforced and you should now see the correct stats both in-game and on the Web site.

A very small amount of players might experience some freezes when logging in. Please report this on the following thread and we will take care of it as soon as possible.

Please note that you only receive an unlock on Rank 1, 2, and 4, for a total of 3 unlocks.

We will continue working around the clock to improve your experience even further. This Tuesday we're rolling out an update during the regular maintenance to secure the integrity of your stats.

We've noticed that EU players sometimes end up on North American east coast servers and vice versa. During the maintenance the ping servers will be tuned in order to make sure you end up on the server with lowest ping.

We've increased the number of servers to cater for an amazing 50,000 players. In a couple of hours time we need to restart all servers to prepare for this and to decrease the lag and improve the experience on X360.

RESTART WILL OCCUR AT 4pm PDT / 7pm EDT / 01:00 CEST.

See you on the Battlefield!

Battlefield: Bad Company to Have 300MB Install on PS3

250°
324w ago - The package shot for the PS3 version of Battlefield: Bad Company reveals the game will require a 300MB install. The X-Box 360 version of the game only requires 2MB of space.

To quote: Reedix sent in a comparison picture of the boxes of EA's upcoming Battlefield: Bad Company on the PLAYSTATION 3 and X-Box 360. What he noticed was that the PLAYSTATION 3 requires 300MB of space while the X-Box 360 version requires 2MB of space.

He got these box shots from the PS3 and 360 pages for the game on GameStop.com.

Is 300MB a reasonable HDD requirement for PS3 owners, or are they taking a back seat to 360 owners?

Achievement List for Battlefield: Bad Company

327w ago - Come Friday and we normally sneak out early off work, go some place and get drunk. Thankfully, we still had not managed to sneak off and get ourselves drunk silly when we realized that we have stumbled upon a treasure trove of sorts.

On our hands here, we have an awesome quantity of previously unreleased details of the upcoming DICE game, Battlefield: Bad Company scheduled to be seen on both the PS3 and the Xbox 360. In the next few hours, we will give up on the bottle for a while and keep updating you with more juicy details of the game, at least until EA decides to send some lawyers our way.

If this has got the Battlefield fans salivating all over their keyboard already, take a look at the Achievement list for the Xbox 360 version of the game and know for yourself why the much talked about Trophy system won't be seen in the PS3 version.

Before we show you the list though, let us tell you that the Achievements are still very much a work in progress and can be changed in the final version of the game.

We Want Free Weapons for Battlefield: Bad Company!

50°
332w ago - When the Multiplayer Beta launched a couple of weeks ago, early adopters of the download were greeted with some daunting news if they went fishing through Bad Company's list of weapons.

It appeared as though Electronic Arts -- as they've done in the past with such games as NCAA Football -- would be charging for components of Battlefield: Bad Company that should be free, and would have been last generation.

The early peek into the beta showed five weapons that needed to be purchased via Xbox Live Marketplace. The outcry from the public was feverish.

Luckily their shrieks of horror did not fall on deaf ears. No weapons - we repeat: NO WEAPONS - will have a price tag attached to them.

We sat down for a talk with Karl-Magnus Troedsson, Senior Producer at DICE working on Battlefield: Bad Company, to get the final word on exactly what users will find in both the standard edition for Battlefield: Bad Company as well as the Gold Edition, and how all that works into the wonderful world of microtransactions.
