50°
36w ago - FarSight Studios Lead Designer Bobby King shared an update today on Pinball Arcade for PS4 with details and a video below, as follows:

Hey there, PlayStation and pinball fans! We are now officially available on PS4! We're super excited that we were able to get it out in time for the holidays.

The positive response to The Pinball Arcade has been overwhelming. Reviewers have been raving about the new lighting and reworked physics which take full advantage of the PS4′s powerful hardware.

The next-gen experience is alive and well in the PS4 version of The Pinball Arcade.

Some people who own Season One basic on PS3 were not able to purchase the discounted Season One pro on PS4. To those waiting on that Season Pass discount in North America: expect a fix by Tuesday the 24th!

Thank you all so much for your support, and have fun with Pinball Arcade on PS4.

FarSight Studios Announce Pinball Arcade is Out Tomorrow on PS4

50°
37w ago - FarSight Studios Lead Designer Bobby King announced that Pinball Arcade PS4 is officially out tomorrow on the PlayStation 4.

To quote: The holidays are here, and we're happy to be launching Pinball Arcade on PS4 tomorrow!

We've been working hard all year on remastering and relighting the classic pinball tables in our game to take advantage of the PS4′s power. And you're getting a table on PS4 for free.

That table happens to be one of the best pinballs of all time, Tales of the Arabian Nights, which was designed and manufactured by Williams in 1996. We can't wait for people to try it who may never have tried pinball before. Pinball is a much deeper game than some people think.

Out Tomorrow

The digital version goes live this week in North America. The blu-ray is also getting delivered to a few retailers this week - a great stocking stuffer for anyone who likes pinball (hint hint).

We're launching with all of our Season One content available. That's more than 20 tables worthy of first ballot Pinball Hall of Fame inductions. In fact, nine of the top fourteen ever, according to [Register or Login to view links] are available from day one on PS4. We're humbled to get to recreate these masterpieces for all of the real pinball fans out...

But ladies and gentleman, the news doesn't end there. We have completely updated the Limited Edition Packaging with this gorgeous HD render of Tidus and Yuna, which I just absolutely fell in love with when I first saw this image.

We also updated the concept artbook with Yoshitaka Amano's iconic image from Final Fantasy X and X-2. Why did we update it, you ask? It will all make sense later, I promise.

For those of you that didn't know about this until now, you can still [Register or Login to view links] and receive a free upgrade to the Limited Edition with the exclusive concept artbook packaging, but quantity is very limited!

Unofficial RetroArch MAME 0.78 Standalone Emulator PS3 PKG Out

1000°
48w ago - Following up on the previous RetroXMB update, today an unofficial RetroArch MAME 0.78 Standalone Emulator PS3 PKG is available for those interested.

Download: [Register or Login to view links]

To quote: For best performance you should use the MAME romset 0.78. I have tested using lower romsets such as 0.37b5 and that romset worked well, but again for best performance and compatibility you should use 0.78 MAME romset. There are some things to be aware of that i have outlined below. As this is still an experimental core and could have some issues not discovered yet.

Basic Usage:

  • MAME romset 0.78 is required for best performance.
  • At first screen of MAME agreement when ask to type OK, Move Left Stick - Left to Right to signal "OK"
  • R3 will access the RetroArch Main Menu.
  • R2 will access the MAME Menu options.
  • Select in game will add credits to the game.

Notes:

  • Core is based on v0.9.8 of RetroArch (not the current 0.9.9).
  • This is an Experimental Core for the PS3 from Libretro...
