PS3 Stranglehold demo out on PS Store!

50°
366w ago - All things being well in the world of the PlayStation Store, you should now be able to download a demo of the PS3 version of Midway's Woo-'em-up Stranglehold.

In Stranglehold, in case you didn't know, you step into the shoes of Chow Yun-Fat as Inspector Tequila and shoot shit up while doing lots of slow-mo diving. And shooting. And diving. And shooting.

Midway says the demo "will allow players to get a taste of the intense, non-stop action, cinematic gunplay and massively destructible environments that their itchy trigger fingers have been waiting for."

When Can We Expect a Warhawk Demo?

50°
366w ago - With the recent rash of demos popping up on the PlayStation Network, we were shocked to not see a small demo available for Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA)'s Warhawk. Rather than speculate, we asked Sony whether the company might release the demo to gamers who are considering purchasing the product.

Here's how an official rep for SCEA replied to GameDaily BIZ's query: "Warhawk was designed to support up to 32-players online simultaneously. In a demo version of a multiplayer only game, there is little control over how many players will be on a dedicated server at a time, potentially leading to smaller online battles that do not fully do justice to the title's fast combat and frantic play. Additionally, Warhawk development underwent an extensive beta trial that included nearly 10,000 participants, which offered a wide audience ample opportunity to experience the game and provide valuable feedback to during Warhawk's development."

So don't expect a Warhawk demo but at only $39.99 as a full download over the PlayStation Network, GameDaily's Chris Buffa summed it up best as, "Sony delivers a superb online experience with Warhawk, a beautiful combat game full of breathtaking scenery and plenty of chaos."

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars Demo Bombs PCs

50°
366w ago - Show us one person who's not yet excited about Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, and we'll shamelessly assume he or she is someone with a middling PC waiting for the console versions. For everyone else, Activision is giving us an early taste of the title with the release of a demo today.

The 728 MB demo (available now via FileFront) gives players access to a full map (Valley) from the beta. If you happened to be in the beta and are already familiar with this map, it may still be worth checking out, as Splash Damage promises that it has undergone further balancing since then. This war zone is playable in both online and offline form with bots. For the best strategies in taking your skills online, be sure to read the official guide to Valley from the Quake Wars community site.

In addition to the demo, the team has also released finalized system requirements, so check those out as well.

While you're downloading that demo, you might want consider taking some time to read 1UP's preview. Enemy Territory: Quake Wars arrives on store shelves on September 28th in Europe and on October 2nd in North America.

Stranglehold demo on PSN today!

50°
367w ago - PS3 owners will be able to blast their way through one level of Stranglehold in a demo hitting the PSN later today.

Just like the Xbox 360 demo which went live a month ago, you'll take control of Inspector Tequila (Chow Yun Fat) and his duel-wield guns and go on a killing spree in the massively destructible Hong Kong marketplace level.

It will give a fair taster of all the table-diving mechanics as you leap over market stools to dodge bullets, and slide down rails on staircases - Sonic the Hedgehog-style - while firing off rounds from your two pistols.

A PC demo is also on the way, but an exact date is yet to be set.
