Sony Announces MLB TV for PS3 Returns to PlayStation 3 Today

69w ago - Sony Director of Emerging Platforms Chris Mahoney has announced that MLB TV for PS3 returns to the PlayStation 3 entertainment system today!

To quote: The 2013 Major League Baseball opening day is right around the corner and PS3 is ready for every home run, strikeout, no-hitter, diving catch and surprise that happens over the course of the season.

Will the San Francisco Giants win their third World Series title in four years or is this the year the Washington Nationals put all the pieces together and take home the World Series trophy?

You can find out starting today as the Major League Baseball action can once again be watched with the new 2013 [Register or Login to view links], now available on PSN for customers in North America.

The MLB.TV app gives you access to every out-of-market regular season game live in full HD, archived games, home and away broadcast feeds, as well as an array of interactive features designed to take advantage of the PS3 system's technical prowess.

Sony Details PlayStation Mobile GDC 2013 Games Round Up

69w ago - Sony Director of Emerging Platforms Chris Mahoney has detailed the PlayStation Mobile GDC 2013 games round up below today.

To quote: PlayStation Mobile had quite a presence at yesterday's Indie Arcade event at GDC. On top of all the awesome games out on the floor available to play, we announced the winner of our NYC GameJam, which took place last month at IndieCade East.

The four semi-finalist games-Crystallon, Hermit Crab in Space, Crumble, and Don't Wake the Bear-were all showcased at the event and Hermit Crab in Space, developed by Golden Ruby Games, was crowned as the first PSM GameJam winner.

Hermit Crab in Space will be featured in the PlayStation booth at E3 June 11th through 13th. Let's give a big shout out to all the semi-finalists and huge congratulations to Golden Ruby Games on their big win. These are incredible games developed by extraordinary talent and we look forward to seeing more at future GameJams.

Sony Unveils Disgaea 3 Free on PS Vita for PlayStation Plus Members

70w ago - Sony PlayStation Digital Platforms Community Manager Morgan Haro unveiled today that Disgaea 3 is free on PS Vita for PlayStation Plus members!

To quote: This month, there was a lot to love in PlayStation Plus. Whether it was a gruesome mystery in the middle of Dubai in Spec Ops: The Line, or the hilarious mis-adventures of those in The Cave. Tomorrow, Disgaea 3: Absence of Detention joins the Instant Game Collection.

To quote: Hi everyone! It's that time of the month again where we update you on all the new PlayStation Plus content coming your way in April.

Sony Announces Unity Tools Coming for PlayStation Developers

70w ago - Unity Technologies CEO David Helgason has announced today on Sony's Blog that Unity Tools are coming for PlayStation developers!

To quote: Today, all of us at [Register or Login to view links] are thrilled to announce a partnership with SCEA that will see Unity tools developed for PlayStation platforms!

We'll be making games built on Unity deployable to PS4, PS3, PS Vita, PS Mobile, and SCE's future cloud services.

So what is Unity? Well, it's only the most widely used game creation toolset and engine in the world. It's so popular because it's based on the idea of democratizing game development. That means making as many awesome and powerful tools available to as many developers as possible, regardless of how big or small their company or team.

Unity is elegant, efficient, approachable, extensible, and affordable. Unity makes it easy to iterate and Unity does the heavy lifting when porting games to other platforms.

Code is automatically converted, and just polish and optimization for that specific platform needs to be added. But all the other stuff - the art, the game logic, artificial intelligence, sound - everything else, remains the same.

Plenty of huge publishers like EA, Ubisoft, Kabam, Square Enix, and Nexon are using Unity...
