Sony Goes Hands-on with Child of Light for PS4 / PlayStation 4

72w ago - Sony Social Media Specialist Ryan Clements has went hands-on today with Child of Light PS4 for the upcoming PlayStation 4 video gaming console.

To quote: With a small build, dainty crown, and a sword too big too wield, Aurora is an unlikely heroine for an adventure. And yet how perfect a character, and champion, for Ubisoft's upcoming JRPG tribute, Child of Light.

This dazzling array of fantasy aims to open the gates to the world of JRPGs for all gamers, welcoming both long-time enthusiasts and complete newcomers.

It's disarmingly beautiful, lacquered in charm, complexly elegant, and even a little haunting. It's scheduled for launch sometime in 2014, on PS3 and PS4.

Aurora, our star of the show, is a petite fairy of a girl, and daughter to a duke from Austria. She finds herself in a mysterious land called Lemuria, enjoying the company of an agile little flame named Igniculus. Her adventures to defeat the Black Queen will take her through a host of mystic environs in search of answers and, more importantly, home.

Child of Light is built with the same engine that powers Ubisoft's recent Rayman games: the dazzling UbiArt Framework. This means Child of light is built with layer upon layer of breathtaking, HD artwork. The characters and scenery move and leap...

Video: Hands-on with Transistor on Sony's PS4 / PlayStation 4

73w ago - Sony Social Media Specialist Justin Massongill went hands-on today with Transistor on Sony's PS4 / PlayStation 4 video game console.

Below is a video and details, to quote: One of the most striking trailers to come out of E3 this year was that of [Register or Login to view links], [Register or Login to view links]'s upcoming PS4 action RPG. After watching it a few hundred times, I made it my personal mission to go hands-on with it at this year's PAX Prime - and after waiting in [Register or Login to view links] of the longest lines at the show, I did just that.

Transistor adopts a top-down, isometric view during gameplay, not unlike Supergiant's previous title, [Register or Login to view links]. The overall art style is similar as well, with vibrant colors just aching to burst through the screen. Transistor takes on a more modern aesthetic, though, with a neo-watercolor tone permeating the scenery we've been shown so far.

This style really shines - both in cutscenes encountered in-game, and in real-world prints that you can get from Supergiant's Web site (like the one to the right).

A moody, melodic score complements Supergiant's luscious visuals - I'm looping the [Register or Login to view links]

Sony European PlayStation Store Updates for September 4, 2013

73w ago - Sony's Jawad Ashraf of the PlayStation Store Team is here with this weeks European Game Store updates, which include Diablo III, Killzone Mercenary, The Walking Dead and more below!

To quote: First up this week, Diablo III. Twenty years have passed since the Prime Evils were defeated and banished from the world of Sanctuary.

Now, you must return to where it all began - the town of Tristram - and investigate rumors of a fallen star, for this is an omen that the End Times have begun.

Another new title to watch out for is Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. Two sons, desperate to cure their ailing father set out upon a journey to find and bring back the 'Water of Life' as they come to rely on one another to survive.

Elsewhere, The Walking Dead shuffles onto the portable joy that is PS Vita today. In addition, this version contains the special episode, 400 Days. The stunning Killzone: Mercenary also arrives on PS Vita, while the hugely successful Farming Simulator series comes to PS3.

Don't forget to check out the rest of today's content including Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F, Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse (oh boy!) and sales on various racing titles and lots of Japanese games.
