291w ago - Although Sony stated that Life with PlayStation was released by mistake earlier today, and has since been removed, some users managed to grab the 126MB file download.

Confirmed: No Video Sharing in PlayStation 3 Home BETA

291w ago - Sony has confirmed that the video sharing feature has been killed from the Home public BETA, and perhaps from Home altogether. The feature first came to light when Home was announced back in 2007, allowing you to go to someone's apartment and watch whatever movie that they had cued up.

Now it appears as if legal implications have got in the way, but Sony said they were looking into adding the feature in the future... to quote:

Remember how you were going to be able to invite other PlayStation 3 owners to your virtual apartment in Home, then watch videos together? That's not happening, at least not in the "open beta."

I got a demo of the latest beta version of PlayStation Home, Sony's upcoming PS3 virtual world, Tuesday. My full impressions are coming soon, but the biggest news to come out of our conversation was that the video-sharing feature has been killed, at least for the first public release of Home this fall.

Video sharing was one of the most talked-about features of Home when it was announced in 2007 -- not only because it would be awesome to go to someone's apartment and watch whatever movie they'd cued up, but because of the legal implications of such a feature that Sony was shrugging off.

Kojima: Video Game Creativity on Verge of Crysis due to Overhype

292w ago - In a job posting at the Official Kojima productions Web site, Hideo Kojima reportedly stated that "the creativity of video games is now on the verge of crisis. Massive advertising campaigns are executed for games before their entertainment values are put into consideration all too often, resulting in sell-off tactics happening without hesitation."

To quote: Metal Gear Solid 4 creator Hideo Kojima, who promoted the game with a rock star launch party here in the United States, has today criticized the game industry for over hyping video games and hurting sales.

The complaint arrived via a job posting at the Kojima Productions web site, were Kojima lamented that "the creativity of video games is now on the verge of crisis. Massive advertising campaigns are executed for games before their entertainment values are put into consideration all too often, resulting in sell-off tactics happening without hesitation."
