292w ago - It's not every day you hear a game being touted as "genre-defining" ... it seems our "sarcasm keyboards" aren't quite working. Sure, we hear it all the time, but World in Conflict: Soviet Assault has an interesting mix of genre to get our attention, as well as Joystiq's.
Calling itself an "Action-Strategy" game, it eliminates the need to build bases or collect resources -- you've mainly got to deal with fast-paced action and split second strategies.
Imagine, if you will, an alternate Cold War where you're forced to battle the Soviets. The game boasts completely destructible environments and competitive online play (head-to-head and team-based) along with a hefty single-player campaign (from both the US and Soviet angles).
In online play, you get your choice of a specialty: Infantry, Armor, Support, or Air. You'll get tweaked controls for console owners, offering more streamlined interfaces. In addition, a fully 3D camera lets you sweep around the world in any way you want as opposed to the typical isometric camera options.
292w ago - Here is a little how-to guide on how to run Grand Theft Auto at 1080p on the PlayStation 3. If you have a 1080p set and the game keeps booting up in 720p all you need to do is disable the other resolutions, I will show you how to do that now...
Go to to the display option under settings
Select video output settings
Untick 1080i and 720p
Press X again
Please note that you need a 1080p HDTV in the 40" range and preferably connected via HDMI.
293w ago - IGN have removed a GTA IV video montage that featured the game's lead character having sex and shooting the women he had sex with. The video was dubbed 'Ladies of Liberty City: Very Bad Things'.
IGN have said that in this case, they crossed a line in how they portrayed some aspects of the game and they've taken the video down.
Below is a cleaner 'GTA IV: Ladies of Liberty City' video:
To quote: I reached out this morning to a spokesperson for Fox, which owns IGN and, after several hours while the video remained online, was told it's now been removed.
IGN has made many other gameplay montages of "GTA," but this is one I didn't expect them to create. It already was making a poor impression (clips of the now-removed video can be seen at those links).
