338w ago - Here is a video (over 10 minutes long) that I recorded of the Ubidays 2008 event in HOME BETA.

I think this video will show more of the space than the first video that was posted earlier here.

Enjoy guys!

The Homebrew Channel Public BETA released for Wii!

50°
339w ago - Bushing and the rest of the crew over at Wii Brew have released the first public beta of the Wii Homebrew Channel. Once installed, the channel allows users to launch homebrew applications without the need of executing the Twilight Hack each time.

Downloads: Homebrew Channel Standalone ELF / Disc Image (USA) / Disc Image (EUR) / Disc Image (JAP)

The Homebrew Channel is a channel for launching Wii homebrew applications without the need to run the Twilight Hack first. It will list apps stored and organized on an SD card in a nice little GUI, which you can very easily customize with descriptions and shiny little .png icons all by yourself if you want.

You can also launch homebrew apps via TCP (with a correctly configured PC) or USB Gecko. Both of those built in options make it extremely convenient for testing out new code, as well as a general purpose homebrew launcher.

There are multiple ways to install the channel onto your Wii. The first and recommended method...

PS3 Home BETA Update v0.8.6 includes Media & Events Space

50°
339w ago - It seems Home has updated to v0.8.6 with a new space... supposedly a Media and Events space. My thought would be more along the lines of giving the Home testers trailers instead of fixing the launch of a game from Home. Sadly, the article linked above had to remove the new images due to a copyright issue.

To quote: A tipster who choses to remain anonymous sent us in these new screenshots of a new update to the Home closed BETA. The BETA is now at v0.8.6.

The new space is called the Media and Events Space and it seems to be a harness for all PLAYSTATION related events.

The update also came with a new survey asking questions such as your thoughts on the new space, it's presentation area, your opinion on the photos and video in the gallery, and what not.

They want to know if you would like to see more events similar to PlayStation Day, what kind of content you want to see in the Media & Events Space to make your next visit more compelling, etc.

No LittleBigPlanet Open BETA says Producer

100°
341w ago - The Community Development Manager (Sam Bennett) and Producer (Pete Smith) of LittleBigPlanet have again said that there will not be a LittleBigPlanet public open BETA.

Instead, the BETA test will be done by an internal group at Sony, but a small number of gamers and press may be invited to this. SCEE did previously say that the closed BETA would start this summer.

To quote: We had the opportunity to speak at length with various LittleBigPlanet producers at PlayStation Day, as well as get some hands-on time with the title. Top of our discussion list was the beta. We wanted to know as much as possible about when it's coming and have done since it was implied last July.

However both Sam Bennett (Community Development Manager) and Pete Smith (Producer) maintained that a public, open BETA will sadly not be happening. The game will go through a BETA phase, obviously, but this will be performed by an internal group at Sony.

There's a possibility of a small number of gamers and press being invited into the BETA phase, but nothing has been confirmed yet. Releasing the game in its entirety to the public, free of charge would be suicide.

Instead, there's talk of a demo being made available, which will curb our monstrous hunger pangs for the game until its October...
