Mirror's Edge finally gets Dated, Arrives on November 11

200°
312w ago - EA has announced that the much-hyped free-running FPS Mirror's Edge will launch on November 11th on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, with the PC version shipping "later in the winter". That of course means that it might not make 2008. Sad times for PC gamers.

Nevertheless, the publisher also confirmed that a demo would be available prior to release on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network, allowing gamers to trial a segment of the single player mode. Starting September 26th, gamers who pre-order the game at selected retailers will also get an exclusive code that unlocks a Time Trial mode in the demo.

"Mirror's Edge is bringing something new to the action-adventure genre this holiday by putting the player in the shoes of the hero, seeing what she sees, feeling what she feels," says Owen O'Brien, Senior Producer, DICE. "We wanted to create an entirely new experience, with a different type of heroine and a world that not only looks fresh and new but has unique gameplay."

As EA were quick to remind us, Mirror's Edge delivers players straight into the shoes of Faith, a modern day heroine who traverses the vertigo-inducing cityscape, engaging in intense combat, fast-paced chases and challenging puzzles. And it looks great.

Introducing PS3 Batarang: PS3 Boomerang Controller Mod Arrives

50°
313w ago - HotDog-Cart recently completed this PlayStation 3 boomerang controller. The boomerang was originally shown with the PlayStation 3 prototype, and was severely panned by the press... but now it's a reality as a result of some custom modification work.

He started with a cheap 3rd-party controller that was approximately boomerang shaped. He enlarged the controller body ~20% using bondo. The internals were replaced with gear from an official Sony controller. It was finished with a coat of black paint.

It's definitely a nice build and the new internals mean it probably feels as good as any factory controller.

To quote: What I basically did was take a cheap PS2 boomerang-ish shaped controller, and take its guts out and modify a REAL official Six Axis Controller and put it inside the shell. I also expanded the shell 15%.

I got the controller painted black, so it would be a batman inspired "Batarang Controller".

Please excuse my picture quality. My 5mp camera thinks brand new batteries, are dead. Also, excuse my bondo job. It was my first time.

You can see the white PS button. I didnt put any image there due to copyright reasons.

It has come into contact with alien life in a distance star system, and when communications with earth are suddenly cut off, engineer Isaac Clarke is sent to repair them. Obviously, things don't go as planned and he finds himself thrust into the middle of a living nightmare, fighting to survive.

Uncharted PS3 Bundle Arrives this Fall, Includes 160GB HDD

100°
317w ago - With the PlayStation 3 40GB model slowly being phased out, it's time to make room for a brand-new addition to the PS3 hardware lineup - an Uncharted Drake's Fortune PS3 bundle.

In North America specifically, it's slated to hit in November at an MSRP of $499.99 and includes the aforementioned game, a voucher for PSN title PAIN, a DualShock 3 wireless controller, and a 160GB hard drive.

Over in Europe, the bundle is due out October 31. Configuration-wise there will be no difference, aside from the fact that it'll include an "additional PSN title," according to SCEE, which may or may not be PAIN.

Sony was quick to mention that this bundle will retain "all the same functionality" as the new 80GB that's popping up on retail shelves here in the U.S. That means no backwards compatibility, but you should be used to that now.
