290w ago - The realm of online first-person shooters isn't exactly sparsely populated. Since last fall we've been given Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, Team Fortress 2, Unreal Tournament 3 and Call of Duty 4, to name a few, all of which featured excellent online competitive modes.
Compared to that, this year has been relatively light for first-person shooter releases, something Nexon is hoping to address by bringing their free-to-play, pay-per-item online shooter, Combat Arms, to North America.
To get a better idea of what the game is and how it works, we had a chance to send a few questions to Herb Yang, product manager on the planning and design team. These questions were submitted and answered via email. Our screenshot and video galleries have been updated as well.
IGN: Who is developing the game? What projects have they worked on before?
Herb Yang: The developer is called Doobic Studios, and is based in Korea. Their previous project was a FPS online game called Heat Project which was released in Asia.

290w ago - There has been much debate over the actual resolution for Haze, especially because some hands-on experiences with the demo have been in contrast to the previously reported 720p resolution. Well, Ripten confirmed this once and for all with Free Radical's Derek Littlewood, creative lead for the upcoming PS3 FPS.
Littlewood said the final product will "indeed render at 1024x576," which is a different story than what Ubisoft recently said on the official PlayStation blog. Thing is, Haze will run at 720p because the PS3 is capable of upscaling, but this is not the same as the game's native resolution. Littlewood talks more about the situation, and why the team decided to adopt a less-than-HD resolution:
"We prioritize a nice smooth framerate over a different res. Personally, I don't really buy the whole thing. People did the same with Call of Duty, they did the same with Halo, and they say with those games 'It's not running at true HD!' And it's like, I don't care. If the game looks good and it runs smoothly, those are the important things to me."

292w ago - Firstly, this is not for the 60GB PlayStation 3's, some of which freeze up at the beginning of the game. This is for those with a 40GB console whose game often freeze up, particularly during missions.
Yesterday I connected my PlayStation Network ID to the Rockstar Social Club, ever since then my console often started with a temporary 2 - 3 second freeze when I load up my game, then luckily the game continues. But when I started with missions today my console constantly froze up at certain points, specifically at the start or end of missions.
I reset my console multiple times, yet the problem still continued. I read that others were having a similar problem, so I knew I wasn't alone. Then I thought about signing out the PlayStation Network, and for hours of playing after that the game has not frozen up once!
I then scouted the message boards and found that this particular solution completely works for other people as well. So if you're experiencing the same problem, try this as well... it definitely is a better solution than the one Take-Two offers - deleting your save game!
Apparently it has to do with the game having trouble sending your statistics to the social club server. Hopefully Rockstar Games and Sony will find a solution...
293w ago - A Rockstar customer service representative has issued the following statement regarding the freezing issues PS3 owners of GTA IV have experienced:
"A patch is being worked on around the clock to address the issues. It's bound to be. That's how they address this sort of thing. It is being worked on. We're looking into it. You will hear from us if a patch is released. A patch is usually the way it's been done."
The rep also said that they have not been told what is causing the game to freeze and that they are "devoid of information at the moment".
To quote: We were also given some tips on how to combat the freezing experienced on the PS3 version of the game, including:
Completely remove the game from the system but leave saves behind.
Turn the console off for 15 minutes without any cables plugged in, then turn it on and try again.
Play without access to the Internet.
Turn off the auto save function and the controller vibration setting.
