PS3 Home (Closed) BETA Patch v0.9.4.2 coming June 25th

400°
339w ago - PlayStation®Home closed BETA version v0.9.4.2: Welcome to the latest update to PlayStation®Home closed BETA which will be available from Wednesday 25th June.

Below you'll find information on all the changes and additions but we would also like to tell you about our plans for the next few weeks as we are preparing PS®Home for a larger audience and another change will happen shortly.

On about the 10th July we will be moving PS@Home to what will be its long term home and this will entail a new release of this code for you to download. This will also remove all your save data for which we apologise, but this will be the last time that happens and we will also be then setup to expand the beta soon after.

We will confirm dates for this next change shortly but now its time to talk you through the changes to PS@Home in v0.9.4.2

Patching
The first item we need to mention is our new patching system. When the patch is released the first time you connect you will be prompted to get the latest files as normal. If you decline the patch and then still try to log on to PS®Home it will crash. The new patching system is really built for v0.9.4.2 upwards and its compatibility with 0.8.6 is limited.

Targeting system
What your character targets when looking around is now...

Twilight v0.1 BETA out, Compatible with Wii System Menu 3.3

200°
339w ago - So much for Nintendo's attempt to block the homebrew-enabling Twilight hack for Wii. Once again Wii Dev'ers have updated it to version 0.1 BETA, complete with support for the recently released Wii System Menu 3.3.

Essentially, this means you can now update to latest Wii firmware, free of homebrew annihilating side-effects. A changelog is below, courtesy of developer Marcan.

Download: Twilight v0.1 BETA for Wii

Changelog:

* The Twilight Hack is now compatible with version 3.3 of the Wii System Menu.
* Improvements in video configuration. The entire console should now be visible in all video modes, and scrolling has been improved.
* For the USA version, the two variants of the hack have been packed into one save file. Just select the save slot that corresponds to your version of Twilight Pricess when you start the game.
* New savegame icons by drmr. The new icons now show which region that version of the hack is for.
* This version now tries to load boot.dol, and falls back to boot.elf if boot.dol is not found.
* ???????
* Many, many bug fixes.

SOCOM: Confrontation Public BETA coming this Summer

50°
341w ago - SOCOM have announced there will be a couple of ways to get into the Public BETA for SOCOM: US Navy SEALs Confrontation. One will be through a radically different pre-order program (think 'team') the team is working on with one of our retailer friends.

It's currently in planning mode, but I should have some more info soon. Trust me-- all you clan guys are going to love it. Stay tuned. The second option will be to go through Qore. The site hints the BETA will be released this summer.

To quote: Listen up folks, 'cause I've got some dirt on the Public BETA for SOCOM: US Navy SEALs Confrontation! We're not quite ready to say when it will come out, but let's just say that it's gonna be a hot summer... better to spend it inside, just in case.

PS3 Home 'Open Working BETA' Still On Track for 2008

300°
341w ago - Sony's long-promised PlayStation 3 virtual world Home is still on track for a 2008 release, although it'll likely stay in BETA.

While talking to senior director of PlayStation Network Susan Panico yesterday about Sony's new online PS3 magazine Qore, we got very briefly onto the subject of Home.

Saying that the software is still due for release at the end of the year, Panico noted that the "rollout will be similar to Gmail," describing what will launch this year as an "open, working BETA."

I certainly hope it's not that similar to Gmail, or it'll never get out of BETA. :P
