288w ago - SCEA Sr. Producer Travis Williams has posted a new video today on the PlayStation Blog showcasing PAIN: The People's MODE for Sony's PlayStation 3.

To quote: If you have been keeping up with our PlayStation Network game PAIN lately you would realize we just released SORE SPOTS. This particular release has been good for us in that we really got to address some core improvements to PAIN as a whole as well as create a multiplayer mode filled with player suggestions we have had for a while now.

Some of the improvements to PAIN include:

Revamped Menus
We've added so much content that the old menus just were not working for us anymore.

PS3 Trophy lists inside modes
Players hated leaving modes to figure out how to get all the trophies. So now you can see those requirements inside the mode you are playing.

PAINalympics!
It's a good exercise to browse our message boards and pick out some of the wackiest ideas we have gotten from the community. I remember one player wanted a mode where you could see how long you can go without touching the ground.

Another player wanted to swing and kick people... I could go on for...

288w ago - Sony's Social Media Manager Jeff Rubenstein has shared the second in their "Virtual Booth Tour" series, namely MAG for PS3.

To quote: You've probably seen some quick demonstrations of MAG, but that's not enough time to do this complex game justice. In this video, [Register or Login to view links] designer Ben Jones takes us through the flow of a massive 256-player battle.

Apologies for the audio pops - it was quite loud on the show floor!

We'll have more video booth tours coming this week!

Video Comparison: Trico Leak and The Last Guardian Debut

100°
288w ago - Over the weekend JoyStiq shared a video comparison of both the old Trico leak and some recent footage from the newly dubbed title: The Last Guardian.

To quote: When we first saw the year-old leaked footage for Team ICO's third game - then known only as "Trico" - We had two thoughts. First: we really want a kitty dragon; and second: we wonder what the game looks like now.

Lucky for us, Sony's E3 keynote answered the latter, with a fresh dose of video footage of the game, newly dubbed The Last Guardian.

Here's the thing though: the first three and a half minutes of the trailer were shot-for-shot identical to the leak, with obvious visual enhancements and that got us thinking: a video comparison!

Our very own Richard Mitchell painstakingly stitched the two videos together above for your enjoyment. On the left: The Last Guardian. On the right: Trico.

289w ago - Sony's Social Media Manager Jeff Rubenstein has posted an E3 09 Virtual Booth Tour: God of War III video via PlayStation Blog, as follows:

We're now on our way back from LA, but even with E3 2009 in the books, we've got a lot more videos coming for you.

During the conference, we had an elevated area above the show floor where media members and other dignataries (I'm looking at you, Verne Troyer) could get a guided walkthrough on our titles.

We shot a number of "Virtual Booth Tours" with our top developers, to give you a feel for what it's like to be at E3, and to see some parts of the games that you probably haven't seen before.

First up, Combat Designer Adam Puhl takes us through the part of the God of War III demo that we *didn't* show during the press conference.

Coming up Monday: A guided tour of MAG!
