Rumor: God of War III for PlayStation 3 Details Leaked!

350°
284w ago - This GameFAQs [Register or Login to view links] claims to have info on God of War III from an upcoming Game Informer feature.

Official details are embargoed until this Friday, with a press event taking place for the game in LA last night.

This lot doesn't sound amazingly far-fetched, to be fair:

• Unlike God of War 1 and 2 where there are only 15 enemies on screen, there will now be around 50 this time.
• You can ride monsters like the Cyclops and "control".
• Kratos on the PS2 used 5,000 polygons, now he uses 20,000.
• They made the weapons "better" so it adds more variety. Like with a different weapon, you don't get just a couple different attacks, but a whole different play style.
• The lion gauntlets are called Cestus.
• Enemy AI's are a lot smarter. Some of the enemies will be "commanders" and control the other grunts.
• Enemies will look different, even if they're the same type. Like, even though the skeleton soldiers are in the same category, they will have varied looks, so it's not like everyone looks the same.
• More boss fights than GoW 1, but less than GoW 2.
• No multiplayer.
• Hades boss fight confirmed.

MLB 09 The Show: Attention to Details Help it Shine on PS3

200°
284w ago - MLB 09 The Show Designer Greg Batalucco detailed some of the things that help make the game shine on Sony's PS3 console:

For this year's version we wanted to make the game as accurate as possible and included in MLB 09 The Show are actual team mascots, new and improved stadium jumbotrons with game related movies, K boards, realistic crowds, and improved lighting and skies throughout the stadiums.

All these enhancements add to the overall gaming experience to make MLB 09 The Show as real as it gets.

One of the main things we wanted to accomplish this year is to add as much realism to the stadiums and the crowd as possible.

We've listened to what the community has been telling us: "We want that same experience that we get at a real ballgame, the look and sounds of the crowd, accurate and detailed stadiums, the smell of popcorn and hotdogs, etc." Well we can't add in smells (or can we?) but you can imagine.

We devoted many, many hours of research to get everything as realistic and accurate in detail as possible in hopes of making it seem like you are actually at the game. We want your friend, spouse or whomever, to walk in the room while you are playing the game and say ,"Hey what game are you watching...

All the Details on Intel's 32nm Westmere Chips

50°
284w ago - Intel has dropped more details of its upcoming 32nm processor line up, codenamed Westmere and featuring on-die graphics circuitry.

Rather than a wholesale architecture change, the move to 32nm is a die-shrink of the existing 45nm Nehalem architecture. Intel will start manufacturing the new chips at the end of the year, for mass release in early 2010.

"It's Nehalem upgraded. Nehalem - the largest design change - is the tock. Westmere is the tick we're announcing today," said Steve Smith, Director of Operations for Intel's Digital Enterprise Group, referring to Intel's tick-tock processing architecture strategy.

The first 32nm desktop chips will feature two cores with integrated graphics on the die. Clarkdale for the desktop and Arrandale for the thin and light market.

The 32nm Westmere processor core has been combined with a 45nm integrated integrated graphics and integrated memory controller. "Intel has had for the last decade or so, integrated graphics in our chipsets. So we're taking that, currently shipping in our 4 series chipset, and integrating that," added Smith.

Before that, though, there will be some more 45nm chips. "We have a variety of products that we expect to be shipping in the second half of 2009," said Smith. These long-awaited 45nm quad-core...

First PSP and PlayStation Home Connectivity Details Revealed?

100°
284w ago - According to a roughly translated Japanese Web page (linked above), it has been announced that Namco Bandai's PSP sim game The Idol Master SP will offer some kind of connectivity with PlayStation Home.

To quote: From what we can make out from the article, it seems that during your play-through of Idol Master SP you unlock "rewards" for use in Home.

It also looks as though Home will import avatars from Idol Master judging from the picture

This is a step in the right direction, and hopefully we will see a lot more PSP/Home integration in the future.

New Uncharted 2: Among Thieves PS3 Details & Screen Available

100°
285w ago - Naughty Dog's Senior Manager of Marketing Communications Arne Meyer has shared some highlights of a recent media event at the Naughty Dog studios today as follows:

The very full day for our guests started off with getting them up to speed on UNCHARTED 2, covering background info on story, gameplay and technology such as:

• The historical mystery surrounding Marco Polo and his lost fleet, which serves as the foundation for our story.
• What's happened to Drake, since it's pretty obvious he's a bit scruffier, down on his luck and he's definitely running with way shadier people than before.
• Introducing everyone to Chloe Frazer, a sexy and impulsive Australian who is just this side of unpredictable and dangerous, not to mention Drake's new partner and romantic interest - can you blame him?
• Adding in what we're calling "action-stealth" to give you the choice to go in guns blazing or take out a few adversaries unnoticed before engaging the rest of them.
• Blending together our climbing and shooting into what we call "traversal gunplay" so you can now be in gun combat in the middle of climbing, swinging on a rope, hanging from a ledge or sign...you can shoot pretty much from anywhere, anytime you want.
• All the cool things the Naughty...
