Video: Sony President Shuhei Yoshida on DriveClub PS4 Update

50°
67w ago - Today Sony President of Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida shared details and video footage on a DriveClub PS4 update for fans.

To quote: SCE Worldwide Studios and the team at Evolution Studios have made the difficult decision to delay the release of DRIVECLUB and DRIVECLUB PlayStation Plus Edition until early 2014.

DRIVECLUB will be a truly innovative, socially connected racing game, but the team requires more time in order to deliver on their vision - and I'm fully confident the game will surpass your expectations.

This decision also affects PlayStation Plus members' Instant Game Collection for launch. To be clear, DRIVECLUB PlayStation Plus Edition will still be part of the Instant Game Collection when it is released.

For the PS4 launch, in addition to Resogun, I'm pleased to announce that Contrast, the highly anticipated game from Compulsion Games will also be available to PlayStation Plus members for free as part of Instant Game Collection.

If you're not aware of Contrast, it will whisk you away to a surreal vaudevillian, film-noir inspired reality full of performance, intrigue, shadow-play and drama. Please check out the trailer below. I'm sure you'll agree that it is unlike anything you will have played before.

Sony European PlayStation Store Updates for October 16, 2013

50°
67w ago - Sony's Jawad Ashraf of the PlayStation Store Team is here with this weeks European PlayStation Store updates today, which include The Wolf Among Us, Muramasa Rebirth and more below.

To quote: TellTaleGames are at it once more with an all new episodic series based on the Fables comic book series (from DC Comic/Vertigo). The Wolf Among Us - Faith is the first of a five part series from the same team that gave us The Walking Dead.

You won't need to have read the comic as the game precedes the events in the first issue. So jump straight into a new game where your choices will affect the story.

Vanillaware. It may not be a name many know, but you should definitely be able to identify their games. Last Friday saw the release of Dragon's Crown (developed by Vanillaware, of course) and this week there's another drop dead gorgeous treat in Muramasa Rebirth.

Muramasa is a 2D sidescrolling action RPG with gorgeous hand drawn artwork that really stands out on the Vita's screen.

Check the rest of this week's line-up below, as well the Cross-Buy and Horror sales that begin today.

Video: Sony PlayStation 4 Interface, PS4 Overview & Features Demo

50°
67w ago - Today ElitePixelEnemyHD has made available a 16-minute video of Sony's PlayStation 4 interface, including a PS4 overview and its features demonstrated.

Check it out below, and to quote: "We have gotten a new video which details the PlayStation 4 UI and goes in detail of the interface.

This video comes courtesy of ElitePixelEnemyHD and is unfortunately kind of blurry but it really gives an extensive tour of the PlayStation 4 UI and its various menus.

The UI looks pretty simple and clean to me. More like an evolution of PS3 UI. They also show the browser and it seems to be a step above what was on PS3.

The original video is from GamekyoLive and is a 1 hour extensive walkthrough of PlayStation 4 and its games. It also has a cleaner sound as opposed to the above video."

Finally, below is another PlayStation 4 at Gamers Day'13 PS4 Overview from Izhan Shafiq via YouTube, as follows:

To quote: "This video showing actual PS4 in a running state. Also showing some PS4 interface and The Playroom at Gamers day'13 Riyadh.. Usually in e3...

Sony PlayStation Store Reveals New PS4 Digital DRM Policy Details

500°
67w ago - Now that you can pre-order PlayStation 4 titles such as [Register or Login to view links] and [Register or Login to view links] on Sony's PSN Store, they have adapted a new PS4 digital DRM (Digital Rights Management) policy as detailed below.

To quote: "With the PlayStation Store, you can download your games to two systems. However, playing those games is a different story. When you're on your primary system, the one you use all the time, you can play as you normally would.

But to play on another system, the owner of the game must be signed into his or her PSN account. So for instance if I go to a friend's house and want to play Knack, I need to stay signed into my PSN account in order for us to continue playing. If I am on my PS4, I can play it without signing in.

This is different from the current digital DRM practice with the PS3 where you can download on up to two systems, but don't need to be signed in with the purchasing account to play said game.

The PlayStation 4 will be available in the US on November 15th and Europe on November 29th."

PlayStation 4 Red Line of Death (PS4 RLOD) Overheating, Sony Responds

750°
67w ago - We've all heard of the dreaded PS3 YLOD (Yellow Light of Death) syndrome, but today a photo surfaced showing a demo PS4 console overheating and displaying what has been dubbed the Red Line of Death (PS4 RLOD) followed by Sony responding.

To quote: The picture was taken at a PS4 event in Spain and posted by Elotrolado member Homer J. Simpson in his report (via elotrolado.net/hilo_playstation-4_1864860_s36130#p1733944694) of the event. Here are his complete updated comments (roughly translated from Spanish):

“In terms of sound, practically none, you can hear the fan if you listened closely but nothing exaggerated. they had ventilated consoles and others put in enclosures completely closed that were running from 9am without stopping (we got there at 18:00 in the evening). they were running fine and were quite warm on the surface but nothing like our current generation consoles.

The only exception to that was one console that was completely enclosed in an acrylic case, it was showing a red light (where there would typically be a blue light) and there...
