Video: Hands-On: Deadmau5 SoundShapes Stage for PS Vita

119w ago - Sony Senior Social Media Specialist Sid Shuman has gone hands-on today with some video footage of the Deadmau5 SoundShapes stage for PS Vita below.

To quote: It's no secret that electronica artist [Register or Login to view links] signed on with Toronto-based Queasy Games to collaborate on the upcoming PS Vita musical platformer Sound Shapes.

But last week we finally tasted the succulent fruits of that creative collaboration.

During a media showcase in New York City, Sound Shapes Producer Jason deGroot kindly demonstrated a new set of levels (a "Record" in the game's lingo) that featured audio effects provided by the mousey maestro and pixelicious art courtesy of indie developer [Register or Login to view links].

It's worth noting that deadmau5's album tracks, such as the pop cut "Ghosts 'n Stuff," won't be appearing in Sound Shapes. And that's by design: the game's interactive soundtrack synthesizes with your platforming progress, making each "performance" a unique arrangement.

But deadmau5's sounds, loops, and rhythms are showcased in a dedicated set of levels. Better yet, his library will be available when it comes time to construct custom...

We are super excited to announce that long-awaited StarDrone Extreme for PlayStation Vita will be released today.

For those of you not familiar with what [Register or Login to view links] is about, here's a brief: you pilot the always-in-motion spaceship through diverse cosmic environments in order to beat each of the game's 60 levels' goals. Goals can range from getting to the end of the level, to destroying all enemies, to collecting certain items.

Each level starts by aiming and shooting yourself into the outer space from a cannon. Your spaceship is always in motion from this point on, and it's your job to attach to nearby gravity beacons to navigate your flight path.





While tethered to a beacon, you can swing and attempt to circle the beacon until you release and slingshot yourself further. This core mechanic allowed us to bring together elements of shoot 'em up, pinball,...

The higly anticpated 2D fighter Skullgirls is now available to download on the PlayStation Store!

A fast-paced, 2D fighting game developed with the tournament fighting game community in mind, Skullgirls draws on the best features the genre has to offer and is designed to be a tournament-grade fighter while remaining approachable and engaging for the casual player. Grab Your PlayStation Vita, Free Escape Plan Update is Now Live!

119w ago - Following up on the previous update, today Fun Bits Interactive Team Lead Chris Millar has announced that the free Escape Plan ppdate is now live for PlayStation Vita owners!

To quote: Today, Escape Plan owners will be happy to see new content popping up on their Vita for download.

The first pack, Bakuki's Lair, is a FREE level pack that adds 19 prequel-puzzle rooms to the adventures of Lil and Laarg. To download the levels, just update the game from Escape Plan's LiveArea directly on your PS Vita.

Fans of Escape Plan have helped push the game into the #1 spot on PSN worldwide, and so we're happy to report that we are improving the experience with a handful of adjustments that were requested directly from gamers.

Players can now squeeze Lil while swiping, front and back taps are more precise, earning stars is just based on time and there are some more hints in sticky situations.

119w ago - FarSight Studios Lead Designer Bobby King has shared some new video footage of The Pinball Arcade, which scores on both the PS3 and PS Vita console today!

To quote: With the PS3 and PS Vita launches of The Pinball Arcade on PSN this week, I thought that I'd share a few more details about our game and offer some general gameplay tips.

The launch tables include one from each of the four major manufactures that we've licensed. Tales of the Arabian Nights (Williams), Ripley's Believe It or Not (Stern), Theatre of Magic (Bally), and Black Hole (Gottlieb).

Tales and Black Hole were part of the Pinball Hall of Fame games. We've spent a lot of time improving the physics and the graphics of our pinball engine over the past few years, so we feel that they're definitely worthy of updating.

When we first made the Gottlieb collection we gathered references from the Pinball Hall of Fame in Las Vegas. We took a lot of pictures, recorded the audio with microphones, and took notes on the rules along with gameplay video reference. We actually re-programmed all of the rules from scratch.





That was a huge challenge! Now, we buy all of the tables and take them apart. Plus, we now have a bunch of physics...
