New Details About EA's Wii-Exclusive Spore: Hero Unveiled

50°
280w ago - Set for release this fall, the Wii version of EA's universe-creating "Spore" is designed for adventure and a heavy use of motion control.

To quote: Few games have transitioned from the PC to the Wii. There is no "World of Warcraft" Wii, no "Company of Heroes" Wii, not even – yet – a "Peggle" Wii. But EA has been trying, first with "MySims" for Nintendo's home system and, coming this fall, "Spore Hero."

EA has shed almost no light on "Spore Hero" since announcing it in January as part of the 2009 line-up of "Spore" spin-offs. MTV Multiplayer can change that today.

Last month in Las Vegas, I met with the general manager for EA's "Spore" and "Sims" studio, Lucy Bradshaw, who talked to me, among other things, about how "Spore" for the Wii is taking shape.

Bradshaw said that this "Spore" for the Wii was built from the ground up. She described a game comprised of a significantly beefed-up version of "Spore"'s creature stage, served with a heavy helping of motion control.

The game brings the PC game's full creature editor and procedural animation system, enabling gamers to assemble their beasts from a Potato-Head's worth of parts. The mouse-driven interface of the editing tools in the PC game turns...

Red Alert 3 for PS3 - Demo, DLC, and Details Available

100°
280w ago - Command & Conquer Red Alert 3: Ultimate Edition Senior Development Director David Seeholzer unveiled the following Red Alert 3 PS3 details today via PS Blog:

Red Alert 3: Ultimate Edition promises to be the premier RTS on PS3 with full co-op campaign with VoIP support, 3 unique world powers vying for global domination, and over 60 minutes of classic C&C cinematics in full HD.

To really make this the Ultimate Edition, we added a ton of bonus content, some of which is entirely exclusive to the PS3 version, including developer strategy videos, the full soundtrack, 5 new skirmish maps, Behind the Scenes, Bloopers & Outtakes, and my favorite, The Women of RA3 featurette!

Since we last spoke some really cool things have come down the pipe. For starters our PlayStation Store destination went live and we have ton of awesome content hosted on it. There's a Red Alert 3 theme featuring the Soviet Commando, (and my personal favorite) Natasha, high res concept art from each faction, and our official trailer.

We have plans for more exciting content for the PlayStation Store so check back often. Most importantly we have been hard at work on a demo, and it should be available for download in a couple of weeks. We sincerely hope that all...

Irem Reveals Details of 'Irem Plaza' PlayStation Home Lounge

200°
282w ago - Irem became the latest publisher to join up with Sony's Home virtual world as it offered today a first look at its very own virtual lounge.

Similar to Bandai Namco's lounge, the Irem space is meant to be a general area for the publisher rather than for a particular game.

To quote: Named "Irem Plaza" ("Irem Hiroba" in Japanese), this lounge has been designed in image of a Japanese festival. Visitors will find the types of sights and activities one might find at a Japanese-style carnival, including booths and areas for food, shooting, fireworks, and Bon Odori.

The lounge will also offer a variety of items, including traditional "yutaka" festival clothing for player avatars and R-9 figures from R-Type as furniture items.

The lounge promises four areas from the start:

Observation Deck
Allows visitors to look out onto the beach and see fireworks and the setting sun

Message Board
Details lounge events and information about new stalls

Night Stalls
Players can play mini games and purchase items here

Yagura (Watch Tower)
This is the central area of the lounge where players will gather

The lounge will also eventually be updated with a special game lounge...

Players use the Nunchuck or the Wii Remote to control the player on the ball, while they pick the player to pass to, or send them on runs into space.

The system has been further refined, so that close control is improved, but two new control ideas have also been implemented.
