147w ago - Sony VP of Product Marketing Scott Steinberg has posted up two new videos today in the PS3: It Only Does campaign, this time spotlighting sharp shooting and hard-hitting 3D games featuring Kevin Butler.
To quote: Once in a great while, a game comes along that challenges what we know to be true about certain genres.
Starting next week, the way you play and experience first person shooters will forever change when Killzone 3 and the PlayStation Move sharp shooter make their way to store shelves around North America.
Now, what would a launch as significant as this one be without an instant classic Kevin Butler ad? Better yet, how about we feed that excitement with two new Kevin Butler ads? Boom...
Starting this morning you can catch Kevin Butler and, well, more Kevin Butler, on some of your favorite networks including ESPN, G4 and Comedy Central.
Of course this all leads into next week when you'll finally have your chance to take Killzone 3 home to play...
147w ago - Today Sony's European Brand Manager Penrose Tackie has announced Remote Racing is hitting Gran Turismo 5 for the PS3 entertainment system.
To quote: I am delighted to confirm that a new functionality update has been made to Gran Turismo 5, which in addition to a number of other enhancements, means that Gran Turismo is now playable from a web browser!
The main features of the update are as below:
1. Remote racing between friends to level up drivers
You can now set the AI drivers you created for B Spec in Gran Turismo 5 to be shared online, and you can host fully automated B Spec races (Remote races) that will grant rewards and experience.
You can either watch the live broadcast of the remote race, or save it to watch later. In B Spec mode the player is the director of a racing team, working to level up your very own AI Drivers.
The races are driven by AI Drivers against each other, and the player does not have to drive the car themselves.
This is a unique racing strategy simulation mode of Gran Turismo that allows you to enjoy races as you would in a live race broadcast on TV.
147w ago - Yesterday Sony addressed PS3 circumvention devices, piracy and PSN bans and today PS3 hackers SKFU among others via ArsTechnica have reported on potential security risks for PlayStation Network users.
To quote: While I read about the big ban tsunami and interesting papers like PSN.PDF (Mirror). I gone through a funny theory, I won't publish any details tho:
1) The bans are based on the users' account and console ID's.
2) We can modify all traffic sent and received by the PlayStation 3
What if some skiddies start to modify their sent traffic to appear as another user and use backups?
The PSN servers would recognize the TOS violation and check the online user database for known connections based on the ID's. The user and his consoles who really owns the ID's would be banned.
Even a simple Windows application which goes through ALL ID's may be possible. 24 hours and any console worldwide would be...
