Free InFamous 2 UGC Vehicles Pack, Search Function Now on PSN

50°
166w ago - Today Sucker Punch Productions Community Manager Collin Moore has shared news of a free InFamous 2 UGC Vehicles Pack and Search Function now available on PSN, as follows:

The very first inFAMOUS 2 User-Generated Content Pack is available now on the Playstation Network, and it's completely free!

In the coming weeks and months, we will be releasing more free content updates that will add new objects to User Generated Content (UGC).

In this first of many UGC updates, you'll gain access to a number of vehicles from the single-player missions of inFAMOUS 2: Bertrand's Limo, Bertrand's Semi-Truck, the New Marais Police Car, the Ambulance, and a bike. Heal injured pedestrians from the flipped over ambulance and protect them from the swarm of enemies.

Help the New Marais Police department from incoming attack from the Vermaak 88 Ice Soldiers. Or hunt down that pesky bicycle thief.

Over 50,000 user-created missions have been submitted to inFAMOUS 2 and you'll need a way to find the missions you want to play. We are happy to announce Missions Search: Simply pause the game, bring up your UGC menu, and search by any term you wish, including PSN user names.

New to UGC? Be sure to check out the inFAMOUS 2 UGC tutorial videos that guide you through the tech...

Video: Inside the Twisted Psyche of Catherine for PlayStation 3

100°
166w ago - Sony Senior Social Media Manager Jeff Rubenstein has posted up a video today which delves into the twisted psyche of Catherine for the PlayStation 3 entertainment system.

To quote: There are plenty of Mature-rated games. But look past the killing and the cursing and you'll see that many Mature-rated games are anything but. Catherine is an exception, the rare Mature-rated title that tackles a truly mature theme - infidelity - in a thought-provoking and unusual way.

If you're a gamer, you've likely heard about Catherine. Whether you read the somewhat skewed early impressions or the more recent glowing reviews, Catherine is probably not the game you think it is.

It doesn't help that early screens of the game played up the sultry, eponymous co-star of the game. If nothing else, Catherine is unique: a puzzle game with fast, tense pacing and a well-developed storyline that has something to say.

Catherine is a hard game to describe, so I recommend downloading the free demo that hit the PlayStation Store last week. Shortly after the demo landed, Aram Jabbari from publisher and developer Atlus dropped by to speak with us and show us a deeper dive into the strange world of Catherine. I focused my talk on questions that the demo didn't...

Video: Sideway: New York PSN Trailer, Hands-on at Comic-Con

166w ago - Playbrains Studio Director Scott Simpson has unveiled the first Sideway: New York PSN video trailer today alongside some hands-on details from Comic-Con 2011.

To quote: Sideway is our upcoming action platformer based on the in-development cartoon series from the wonderfully twisted minds at [Register or Login to view links].

Oh, did the screenshots convey that we have hours of mindbending levels full of danger and challenge that will make the paint run from your veins?

Or that we support drop-in, drop-out couch co-op so you can play with your friends or that the bosses in the game are unlike any you've come across in your gaming life before?

Did the shots at least convey the basic conceit of the game: that you painted over the wrong dude's tag, and that you, in fact, are now a moving 2D painting in a 3D world?

Regardless, if you're interested in seeing what all of the above is really like, we're just putting the finishing touches on a demo for Comic-Con this week in San Diego. Oh yes, my friends, that's right--when you come by [Register or Login to view links] at the Con (Booth #4436), not only can you check out the awesomeness that is Sideway, but you can also...

Video: Resistance 3 PS3 at Comic-Con 2011: Global Resistance

100°
166w ago - Insomniac Games Senior Community Manager James Stevenson has shared some video footage today from Comic-Con 2011 spotlighting the Global Resistance online strategy game in Resistance 3 for PS3.

To quote: Greetings from San Diego and the International Comic-Con.

Last night, IGN Editor Colin Moriarty moderated a panel on Resistance 3 featuring Creative Director Marcus Smith, Art Director Grant Hollis, Animation Director Kevin Grow, as well as voice actor Robin Atkin Downes (Joseph Capelli) and Crispin Freeman (Charlie Tent).

The panel covered the Resistance universe, showed some of the new St. Louis footage we debuted on Gametrailers TV last night, and we discussed the St. Louis level, along with its mysterious story implications about Charlie Tent and his ragtag group of rebels.

And from there, we gave the audience a behind the scenes look of the motion- and performance- capture that we used to bring the characters to life in Resistance 3. Since you all couldn't be there with us, check out this highlight video of some of the best moments from the panel.

We also announced a new online strategy game complementing Resistance 3 that will live on [Register or Login to view links].

Video: Ed Boon on Freddy Krueger in Mortal Kombat and PS3 DLC

200°
166w ago - Sony's Senior Social Media Specialist Sid Shuman has posted up a video today featuring Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon speaking on Freddy Krueger in the PlayStation 3 title along with the secret origins of the PS3 DLC characters.

To quote: In discussing the news, Boon shed light on the long, sometimes tangled genesis of [Register or Login to view links]'s other DLC characters - namely Rain, Skarlet, and Kenshi.

One began as a joke, one was an incorrect rumor, and one... well, you'll see.

Look for Freddy to hit PSN on August 9th for $4.99, and read on for my full chat with Ed Boon.

PlayStation.Blog: So what is the inspiration for bringing Freddy Krueger to Mortal Kombat as a DLC character?

Ed Boon, Creative Director, Netherrealm Studios: It was a number of things. It's kind of hard to choose a character who would fit well into the [Register or Login to view links] universe, with the blood and violence that's so associated with it. Kratos from God of War is a brutal, bloody character, so he makes sense.

When we had the discussions about the DLC characters, we knew that we wanted to add a returning character, a new character, but also a guest character....
