17w ago - Q-Games Producer James Mielke shared a video below today spotlighting the new PS3 Visualizer application from Q-Games which arrives this Tuesday.
To quote: Hi everyone! It's been a while but I'm back for a second tour of duty on PlayStation.Blog, although I should point out that I switched Qs in the interim (I was formerly a producer at Q Entertainment, and am now a producer at Q-Games).
The reason for my check-in here today is to announce a brand-new app (you'll find it in the 'Apps' section on PSN) for PlayStation 3 simply titled Visualizer, which, as the name suggests, is a new set of over two dozen music visualizers to use with your PS3's music library.
As you may know, Q-Games is known for its technological contributions to the games industry, in addition to its PixelJunk series of games. Q (initially Dylan Cuthbert and Kentaro Yoshida) crafted the legendary duck demo for the original PlayStation 2 reveal, and later as a company were responsible for a lot of the visual effects, XMB bar, and visualizers built in to the PlayStation 3. Q-Games also handled a lot of the interface programming on PS Vita, so, essentially, we know our way around Sony's hardware.
18w ago - Sony PS Store and Plus Content Manager Chris Howe announced that the next PSP and PS Vita sale starts today on PlayStation Network.
To quote: It's been quite a ride so far as we have worked our way through the consoles that have made the PlayStation brand a global phenomenon.
But our story would not be complete without taking a look at our handheld platforms. The PSP revolutionized portable gaming with amazing screen, robust multimedia capabilities and connectivity with our other Sony platforms. But what we all really love are games, and the PSP produced some real classics.
Our very own God of War: Chains of Olympus tops it for me but how can we forget Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, WipEout Pure and Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions. What a great library.
That brings us to our latest console, the PS Vita. Now in terms of lifespan, PS Vita is just a youngster, so what we want to know from you is what your best moments with it have been so far? This magical piece of kit is here to stay and it's only going to get better with the PS4!
Personally I love playing FIFA 13 on its crystal clear screen; it passes the time brilliantly on my journey to and from PlayStation HQ every day. I am also eagerly awaiting the release...
18w ago - Sparpweed Creative Director Richard Boeser shared a video announcing that Ibb and Obb tag-team Sony's PlayStation Network today.
To quote: In October, we introduced you to ibb & obb. Today it launches exclusively on PSN as part of PlayStation Store PLAY.
Four years ago, we founded Sparpweed with the intention to make our two-player, double-gravity prototype into a full game. We teamed up with Codeglue for the development and started production.
The game wouldn't be the same without Kettel's warm melodies and Tomasz Kaye's lentil centric sound effects. Five guest artists decorated the secret levels and many others helped in all kinds of ways. PlayStation showed a lot of commitment and patience, and guided us through the whole process. Thank you all!
From day one we built the design around the interaction between the two players. ibb & obb is all about the joy of exploring a new world and solving puzzles together.
I hope many of you will enjoy playing ibb & obb at home with a friend, brother, sister, parent, significant other, grandchild or online with a random gamer or PSN friend.
19w ago - BitComposer Games PR Manager Daniel Krauss shared a video today showcasing the napalm-infused action of Thunder Wolves, which hits PSN on August 13th, 2013.
To quote: As kids in the '80s, we grew up with outrageous action heroes capable of toppling entire regimes without ever reloading - and as for how those bullets made everything explode... some questions just aren't worth asking.
Not everyone needs complicated storylines with brotastic melodrama, or epic amounts of padding to fill the hours. Sometimes, we simply have the urge to grab a controller and blow $#!& up from a chopper.
Maybe it seems weird to mention destruction as a 'feature' of gameplay, but in Thunder Wolves, out August 13th on PSN, we have buildings crumbling into searing clouds, tanks exploding on impact, foot-soldiers being utterly vaporized, and... you get the idea. In short, Thunder Wolves is a little adrenaline-surge rolled up with the perfect after-work stress relief.
19w ago - Pwnee Studios President and Co-Founder Jordan Fisher announced alongside a video trailer that Cloudberry Kingdom lands on PlayStation Network today.
To quote: Take a second and watch the below video. I never watch videos in blog posts - it takes too long and I've been spoiled by GIFs. But seriously, just watch it. None of this post will make sense otherwise.
I needed you to see that before I continued. You see, we've made the hardest, most stupidly ridiculous hardcore game ever. And we're sorry. Kind of.
We even called it a happy name like Cloudberry Kingdom to help ease the pain. But before I actually try apologizing for real, let me take a step back and defend myself.
I'll be making use of the traditional Socratic Straw Man Method for my defense: below, you'll find your unsound critiques highlighted in bold, with my impenetrable defense following. Afterward I may apologize.
Let's start with the first reason for why you're upset. "Being hard for the sake of being hard is stupid, therefore this game is stupid."
Woah. First of all, I Wanna Be The Guy has already proven in my mind that everyone wants a brutally unfair game with invisible spikes and hidden platforms that change location...
