To quote: Here is another update to They Do Not Die 2.

Notable changes:

  • Your health and energy are now displayed with progress bars instead of text.

  • Running uses more energy.
  • Game saves are slightly smaller (although it is still fairly slow to create and load them).

  • Right analog stick = Aim
  • L1 = Fire the rocket launcher
  • R1 = Fire the machine gun
  • L2 = Fire the shotgun
  • L3 = Run

173w ago - Today PlayStation 3 homebrew developer ThatOtherDev has made available the initial release of a PS3 homebrew fighting game in development called Sketch Fight v0.1.

To quote: This is a first version of something I have put together for the soon closing Scenery Beta 2011 international homebrew [Register or Login to view links].

Sketch Fight is a simple two player fighting game with crudely done hand drawn graphics that are intended to look like something a person would doodle when trying to cope with the mind numbing repetition and tedium that is school.

I only have one PS3 controller at the moment so I haven't been able to test it properly... Let me know if it isn't controlling correctly.

Edit: Apparently when a second controller is connected both controllers effect both players. So it is pretty much unplayable. I'll probably buy a second controller sometime soon so that I can test multiplayer games myself.

PS3 controls:

  • Left directional button = Move left
  • Right directional button = Move right
  • Down directional button =...

They Do Not Die 2 v0.3 PS3 Homebrew Game Update Arrives

174w ago - This weekend PlayStation 3 developer ThatOtherDev has updated his homebrew game They Do Not Die 2 to v0.3 for PS3 Custom Firmware and JailBreak users.

To quote: Here is another updated version of They Do Not Die. This new update Most notably features destructible walls and the ability to save the game state. Game saves are fairly large and consequently rather slow to create and load but that will improve over time.

I’m still undecided about what the subtitle should be so keep posting any ideas you have. Right now I’m leaning towards going with Collateral Damage (suggested by Griffunt) or Life After Death (suggested by Annelies)

On a less obviously related subject does anybody know how to go about measuring the passage of time with millisecond precision (or near enough to it for it to be usable when calculating the frame rate) when developing for PS3 with PSL1GHT?

What has changed:

  • You can save the game at any time and obviously also load that save.
  • The on screen text now scales so it no longer fills an overly large portion of the screen at low resolution.
  • In addition to your gun you now have a rocket launcher.
