227w ago - Today the Square Enix teaser site that was launched a few days ago has been updated again.
neo2046 of NeoGAF has deduced that it is apparently for Square Enix's arcade card game "Lord of Vermillion" or a related title... we'll know for certain on August 7th, 2009.
To quote: It appears Square Enix has yet again updated the countdown to their mystery game, which is set to be unveiled on August 7th in Japan.
In this latest update, images of a man and a dragon can be seen in the background. Thanks to the work of NeoGAF users, it appears this game has something to do with Square Enix's arcade game Lord of Vermillion, either being an new game or a port of the arcade version.
228w ago - Square Enix is taking a liking to teaser sites, amongst other companies like Atlus and Cyberconnect 2, in doing countdowns for reveals of Front Mission Evolved for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, Final Fantasy Gaiden for DS and more.
Today, however, a new PS3 teaser site comes in as follows:
Titled "0807", the new teaser site features nothing but the words "VII Days" and a countdown timer that ends in approximately twelve hours.
We're guessing this is going to follow in the shoes of Hideo Kojima's countdown timer and start a new countdown in twelve hours considering that the date in the title of the page is August 7th, which is seven days from now.
While searching through the flash site, rykomatsu of PSU has also uncovered some new leaked concept art (below).
228w ago - Two days ago a GameFly listing gave hope to PlayStation 3 console owners that Star Ocean: The Last Hope may be coming to PS3.
Since then, Square Enix reps have now confirmed that the retailer listing was made in error.
To quote: Sqaure Enix reps told Kotaku "We cannot comment on a PS3 release at this time." However, they went on to say that the listing on Gamefly.com was "an error and had been taken down from their site."
Well, not completely taken down. While searching for the PlayStation 3 release of Star Ocean: The Last Hope doesn't return anything but the Xbox 360 version, Gamefly still has the title in its data base.
We'll chalk that up to either a technical limitation or a preference to not have to upload the listing again should an announcement of a PS3 port be coming soon.
234w ago - Final Fantasy legend and XIII producer Yoshinori Kitase has stated that the development team has not had to make any concessions for the Xbox 360 port.
Final Fantasy XIII is due out on the PS3 and the Xbox 360 simultaneously in North America and Europe sometime in 2010.
However, Square Enix has confirmed that the Xbox 360 version will be a port of the PS3 version.
To quote: Giant Bomb brought word that development of the Xbox 360 version of hotly anticipated JRPG only began once the recent Japan-exclusive PS3 demo was released in April.
Some fans have expressed concern that content may be left out of both versions of the game due to DVD storage limitations.
Kitase dispelled that myth. He said: "The team is targeting to create an equal experience on both the 360 and the PS3, so there are no limitations. For example, right now we're working on the PS3 version first, and once we've completed that we'll really know how much game there will be to fit onto the Xbox 360 discs."
"So we don't know how many discs it'll be housed on for 360, but there won't be a chance that we'll compromise anything because, oh it didn't fit in the 360 discs...
235w ago - Square Enix has shed some more light on its highly anticipated PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 RPG Final Fantasy XIII.
Compared to the demo, the final product will have a more realistic feel to it and the transition from CG sequences to real-time scenes will be smoother. AI will be improved and party members will be capable of delivering a varied portfolio of combination attacks.
To quote: The development team isn't ready to explain exactly what kind of relationship exists between Lighting and Snow, yet Snow apparently refers to the heroine as "older sister." Lightning's crystal is shaped like a rose, whereas Snow's looks like a heart.
Following Ifrit, Shiva, Carbuncle and Bahamut, Odin is the fifth summon officially confirmed to appear in the game (as seen at Microsoft's E3 press conference). Like Shiva, Odin will be able to transform into a vehicle during battle.
Talking about Shiva, the two sisters which make up this icy summon can be transformed into a bike. Players can ride this bike by using the analog stick to freely move around on the battlefield and attack their opponents by pressing a button.
In this mode, the game will feel similar to an action game. Apparently,...
